With you? Absolutely! I'm sorry my absents made things difficult. Did we talk about what we wanted to do?
As for the piece, could you send $43 (3 for shipping) to Derivedjam@gmail.com? And if you could send me a note with your address as well.

This is absolutely beautiful.
It's a very pleasant piece to watch. The colors and arrangement of the subjects and backgrounds makes it as serene to the viewer as it appears to be for the subject.
Additionally, if you hadn't have mentioned any flaws I wouldn't have known of any...and I still can't find them. You keep doing what you do my friend. It's another one of your fantastic masterpieces.

I thought of saying what I think of this. Maybe it will be useful some time?
Anyway, it lacks some atmospheric perspective. The light source makes me think it comes from the back, so the shading seems a bit off since it takes light from the side.
The character looks a bit plane, as if it was part of the background. Maybe cut the lines that are near the source of light a little to make it seem more bright and give it some volume? I have a feeling you already know of hatching but if not you could try that.
I'm not saying this like "This is bad and stuff", since you said it was a speedpaint type of drawing I think is obvious that mistakes will be made, but is just that when I look at it, these things are what I keep noticing, and I think this advice may be useful for someone some other time later on.
Is a nice drawing and it looks good, but I just see these things when I look at it.
Regardless I think you did a good job on this. Again, very nice.

Actually it's very helpful! I see a lot of those same things and it's never bad to hear it from someone else! I do have to try and work on lighting and perspective in general, but doing quickly, that's even tougher! XD It's also nice when someone does more then point it out but offers sound advice. ^^
Thank you for the tips and helpful critique! Know that it will come in handy!

Well I'm relieved to see this. I kinda worry to hear stuff like "no one asked you" or stuff like that.
Also, I had to say more. For perspective, you could use weaker colors for the background. I think that just using google image search can give you an idea, but basically from what I know is to make the backgound colors more like the color of the sky, like more blue but still green if this were a clear sky. There is also the rule of thirds.
Also, I'm not exactly sure what color you use for shading, or if you use more than one, but either way is nice to remember that when shading is better to not use black, unless the object in question is of that color.
Being honest, I'm not sure if I should be saying these things, since I just learned of them recently, and have only practiced them once or twice, but it should be okay I guess, given that I got it from somebody else that knows first.
Also you're welcome, your stuff is really nice now that I take a look at it.

It took me longer than expected but I found the comic chainsawsuit.com/comic/2014/03…
I kinda agree with the comic, and I should have also said that there is a clear difference between being an asshole and actually giving critique.
And about the color looking different on different backgrounds, I found this www.cvrl.org/gallery/Color-con… I was hoping to find some other example though.
Anyway that is all I think. Sorry for bothering you with all these walls of text. I wish you luck with whatever you do next.

Yeah, some people are that way. I remember being some people that encouraged the lack of criticism. That was around 1 year ago though, so who knows how it is now. But I can see their point, given that not everyone has the same idea of how to give criticism, and sometimes it comes out with mean intentions. But I think people try to critic becasue they care? I mean, I could have easily said nothing and keep these things to myself, but I said them.
There is a little comic that explain it better than me, I have to search for it.
Also, this reminds me of the typical example of "you don't have to be a chef to tell the food is bad". It can be true but different people give different advice.
Hehe, it's true after all. As an example is like: If you put a red ball on a blue table, the shadow will habe a blue tone to it, but if you put it on a purple or brown table, it will have a purple or brown tone respectively. Is more obvious with things that are white though.
I cannot really give advice about hand coloring, since I haven't tried drawing with color pencils, but I think the same things apply, not sure. I know that you can use both the tip and the sade of the point of the pencils to get different effects, but that is normal color pencils, not watercolor ones. I have no idea how they work
Also you can use colored paper for drawing too, and use the color of the paper as part of the drawing. Colors take different tones depending of what color is the background. I need to sarch for examples of this.
I just keep remembering all this stuff, don't know how I forget to say it.
Also you're welcome again. I hope I didn't forget to say anything this time.

I personally like to believe that those who give me critique care. ^^
I love using colored paper! This makes me want to do something on it again. XD

That's good I think : )
Hehe, if you do try to have fun with it. Maybe try something new?. I haven't tried using colored paper myself, so I don't know much aside from what I have been told about it.
And from that other reply, you're welcome again. I'm pretty sure I didn't forgot to say anything this time.

Oh wow, this really turned out so amazingly, and beautifully!
I love the pose, and the yearning look on her face, and in her eyes as she awaits the storm.
The background is also so incredibly done! I'm especially in love with the soft look of the clouds, and the the soft warm light of the sun shining through. Your coloring also never ceases to amaze me.
