Description A flying/gliding Archaeopteryx lithographica mainly based on the 11th specimen found. Analysis of Archaeopteryx wing feathers reveal that they had black tips to at least some of the feathers, like a magpie. I have taken the analogy to ridiculous lengths in this drawing though, making its plumage almost identical!

Colouring extinct animals identically to modern animals in palaeoart is a bit silly, and reconstructions like this aren't often taken seriously. This is annoying, because I spent quite a lot of time making sure this is accurate. Well, at least I have some justification for colouring it like this.

For me, I've always associated Archie with magpies (they are a lot of magpies in by backyard) so I approve this drawing ! And
hurray for the 11th specimen papaer too !
