Description Made by the same developers of the Mk50 Sidekick, the PC45A was designed as an officer's pistol, with an adequate mechanical setup to allow for potentially rugged conditions while retaining enough compactness to be concealed or stored on a hip holster. The most interesting part of the pistol is not only its brushed steel exterior but its characteristic slide safety mechanism, designed to be easily operated by thumb. It utilizes a tilting-block barrel, an ancient but well-proven example of firearms mechanics, and uses an external hammer - an unusual turn for Emerson Tactical who is known for favoring striker-fired models.

The pistol scored well on repeated firing when submitted for approval by the the UNSC, and its weight was favorable, though potentially grip-heavy. What does not work in the PC45's favor is that it it both does not possess a threaded barrel for compensators or suppressors, nor does it possess a rail system to attach lasers or flashlights. The top of the slide is smooth with the exception of straight-forward gutter sights that are lit with tritium inset. The reasoning behind the lack of customization is based on the principle that the weapon is planned to be used for patrols and close combat. Officers who find the need to draw their pistols would find it unnecessary to have full slide length when in a ship or ground base hallway, which also is the reason why it does not have a threaded barrel locking mechanism. It was designed for patrols and not much else. In this, the PC45A has found itself a niche, however small it actually is, and the usage of .45 AUTO is a ubiquitous enough cartridge even in the distant 33rd Century that resupply can even be done on-site with 'minifactories'.

Very true. That's why I've always loved Halo's art style. Almost every human vehicle and weapon looks like it could potentially be a real thing in the future
