So beautiful...
7-year-old Rose is giving her daddy a good-night kiss.
7-24-11
5 hours digital
Pencil sketch 2.5 hours (4-28-11)
I wanted to try to duplicated the painted style I did with my Angel with the Black Wings painting, but it turned out a bit differently. I don't mind though, as it still looks alright to me.
This is the first time I ever used a texture. It's... interesting. I don't know if I like adding the change, but maybe that's just me. I dunno. I guess it isn't any worse. I can upload the original without the texture to compare if anyone would like.
This image is very large. Please download it for the full view. It's a HD image (1920x1080), so you can use it as such is you so desire. =3 Let me know if you actually do. That would be cool to know!

UPDATE (And a pretty big one at that!)
I think I finally balanced it so that it's textured, yet the characters stand out a lot more. I absolutely love it now!
Other changes:
-Changed signature to an overlay
-Added writing above Rose (That was in the original pencil drawing.)
-Added the rest of Foxglove's tail
-Added a red glow between the two characters
-Added highlights and "accent edges" Photoshop filter to hair

I have it set as my desktop background right now. And I have a screensaver that makes my desktop burst into flames when I'm not using it, so yes, I guess it does emit lots of warmth. xD

Actually, this was the original. The one I uploaded first came after I added the texture. I'm trying to get some feedback as to which one was better-- the one with the nice, vivid colors or the one with the pretty texture added to it. What do you think?
I'm thinking there's got to be a way for me to balance the two elements. I've got to figure it out, though.

That exactly the feeling I was trying to convey through this drawing. I think that the colors may have ended up just a bit too washed out, though. What do you think? Are they too light? Maybe I should make them a bit more rich and deep?

i honestly like the washed out pic, i haven't seen any digital pecies like this. the colors are fine too, they'er warm colors and if you made them deeper i don't know what would happen

I uploaded this version as a comparison. It's the image before I added the texture. It looks a lot more deep, but I think the colors are still just as warm. But I also feel it needs the texture. What do you think?

Only trying once or twice just isn't enough, even if you're drawing from sight. If you want to learn, you have to be willing to make a fool of yourself for the first few months. It took about 8 months until I could draw well enough that I wasn't embarrassed to have other people see my drawings. xD I'm at about 2 years and 3 months of experience right now. Keep trying, and you'll be as good as the other artists you see here someday.
