For the monthly theme contest. I went really overboard. orzI had to do chartreuse and adventure so I was like... 8D LET'S MAKE THEM GO ON AN ADVENTURE TO FIGHT A DRAGON~!
My first painting of a dragonnn whoo <3 I've drawn a few dragons here and there but this is my first time really coloring one. I probably wouldn't have finished if it wasn't for a contest because it was an intimidating endeavor ; w ;
I'm sad though because halfway through I realized it might not be anime enough :C but I wanted to try something challenging and interesting....but it doesn't focus on the characters that much orz

;^; I don't know why I didn't see this via my messages, and for that I apologise for not having seen it. But daaaang Hira, this is some cool stuff. Especially the way you constructed this piece. I like that you made the difference in size between the dragon and the people. I even love the fact you went into so much detail in the scales. I would imagine this would have taken you quite a while...

Awwwwww it's okay Kitty! LOL! Thank you! :3 Yeah I wanted it to be a reallly big dragon ; w ; but the people didn't get much detail because of it~ I really wanted the scales to look nice and not overdone but it was hard. I think it took me around three/four days? lol my average time for painted contest pieces orz
PFFT. I don't /always/ go into detail at all haha!! xD I've been trying to be more detailed buuut....I could be soo much more detailed than this D:

;w; I still wanna try to respond to pieces that get uploaded. But erm... I think its good the dragon was your focal point rather than the people but huuuuuur D8 so much work for scales.

Details are hard, but I'm trying to be less lazy and put them in. They can actually be fun sometimes!

Yup it's hard for me to draw /anything/ that's not cute ; w ; I used a BUNCH of references for it, and I've been practicing drawing monsters in general lately.

You're very welcome! Yeah. Usually I would have tried practicing some dragons first before actually drawing the picture, but I was being lazy... >->u
Sometimes monsters and scary things are fun to draw though, so I've just been doing that sometimes lately.

LOL. I hear ya. Uhm wellll maybe try drawing a few scary monsters from videogames. :'D I haven't drawn anything /really/ scary (like horror game scary) but I've drawn a few of the intimidating ones for practice. It'll help you get an understanding for the kinds of shapes/lines that make things look like they'll rip you to shreds! 8D /shot
Liiike the other day I drew a bunch of werewolves for no apparent reason! :'D LOL. And then after you've practiced you can just try drawing your own random monsters c: But the only way to really get away from cute is to practice things that aren't cute~

~ w ~ I'm not sure yet.... It's not actually a mean dragon he won't eat them he's just grumpy and doesn't like being disturbed. He's like an ancient dragon that's really cool but I haven't thought of a name yet. xD I kind of just made him for the picture..
