"In the years following the Shimshar Kobolds' recovery, many kobolds from the sleepy river valley reached out into kingdoms and nations far beyond Sembia, whether to become renowned heroes or to simply see the world. For those that seek to return home in glory, some call upon the arcane might in their draconic blood. Some call upon the divine magic they learned from the worship of Helm, the vigilant God that saved them. For some, more covert means and methods are their chosen path.

The Shimshar Kobolds often revere the founders of their underground nation, remembering well their harrowing stories of survival in the wild after being cast out by their peers, living day to day and earning their lives with tricks and subterfuge. The Hohldelve clan pay particular homage to this history, and speculation is often made from which tribe of kobolds they originated.

With the blessing of his elders, Menaegnas Hohldelve left the River Shimshar and sought out the paths his ancestors took, seeking to learn what he can about their origins, all the while serving Helm's creed of protecting innocent folk. Menaegnas eschews the plated armour of Helmite knights and the grandiose gestures of arcane power in favour of stealth. As the Shadowed Watchers taught him, there is no keener weapon than a watcher unseen."
