Description
"WOAH!" Relic quickly bounced off a nearby building and shortly after crashed into the ground. "You'd think G.U.N. would be smart enough to let us appear already on the ground." Relic picked himself up and looked at the vast city as cold rain fell. "This isn't right; I shouldn't even be in a city. Whatever went wrong with the warp ring, I just hope it wasn't major." Relic checked his communication watch he was given before the race, but only got static. "Looks like I'm on my own now."
Relic started dashing through the city hoping to find another contestant or an agent. Shortly after doing so he heard a siren coming closer to him. "Oh great, what now?"  Relic turned his head to see three police cars chasing him. "What, am I speeding?" He quickly grabbed a pole and swung around to head straight towards them.  "How do you like some explosives?" Two nuts went flying from Relic's hand as they exploded near the cars. The explosions sent the cars swerving into each other as they crashed into the ground in front of Relic. "Well now that they're done chasing me, I'll go find that warp ring." Relic dashed from the scene.

                                            ....

Relic stopped his running to examine where he was. "Man, how hard is it to find one warp ring on a floating island? Let's see, I still need to check the sewer… or maybe I co-"
"Um…. Hello?" A quiet voiced called out.
Relic turned around to figure out where the voice came from. "Uh hello, now who are you?"
"Are you a contestant?"
"Yeah, what does it mean to you?" Relic braced himself for an attack.
"Oh thank goodness, I thought I was alone." A blue butterfly with a blue dress and shoes stepped out from a dark area. "My name is Flower Apple, I've been trying to find someone else from the competition for a while now."
"Yeah, me too. My name's Relic. Do you mind if I call you Flower, it's shorter."
"I guess not."
"Well okay then." Relic went over to a manhole, placed a nut on it, and ran back. "Fire in the hole!" The nut exploded sending the manhole flying high in the air. "I'm going to check the sewer, you want to come?"
"I think that's a good idea." The two of them slipped down the hole as the manhole came down with a loud thud nearby. "Man it's kind of creepy in hear."
"Yeah, I agree with you, especially seeing that multicolored water. Well at least I think that's water." The two began walking for a while until they both appeared to look doubtful.
"Do you really have any idea of where we're going?" Flower asked after a long silence.
Relic turned around. "At this point, no. Let's head up out of this stink hole." Relic lifted a manhole to peek out. "Okay the coast is clear." He lifted the lid the rest of the way and climbed out, followed by Flower.
Flower dusted herself off. "Okay, please tell me you have another idea."
"Actually yes, but it'll take a bit to get there and I'm not even certain that it's there."
Flower shrugged. "I'll take my chances."
Relic grabbed her by the arm. "Then hold on tight." Relic dashed off with her clinging to his arm.

Relic stopped in front of an ice-capped mountain. "Ahhh, I love that mountain air."
"You c-couldn't have p-p-picked a warm-er place to search?" Flower said through clenched teeth.
"Well I'm kind of playing by ear, but let me know if you have a better idea." The two began hiking up the mountain as the rain froze to snow. After a while, a low humming noise began to grow. "Hey are you humming?"
Flower shook her head. "No, but I hear it too." They both looked back to see a full swarm of police cars heading up the mountain. "How did they find us up hear?"
This is Imperial City, who knows what kind of technology they have." Relic grabbed a chunk of snow and patted it down to make a snowball. "Let's hope this works." He rolled it down the mountain, causing it to grow and pick up speed. It eventually grew large enough to swallow all of the cars and send them back down the mountain.
Flower stood there stunned as by what just happened. "I can't believe that actually worked."
Relic grinned. "I actually bluffed on that, we could have been captured by now. Well let's keep moving."
Flower turned to Relic. "You seriously risked our lives on something like THAT?!"
"Yeah pretty much, now come on." They continued their hike until a swarm of flying robots with one red eye and two guns surrounded them.
"Um, please tell me you know h-"
Relic was already spinning in a ball and began to glow. "Just watch this." Relic spun straight into the robots before any of them could react and began destroying them. In just a few seconds, they were all destroyed. "Now for the ring."
A dark shadow fell over them as a giant robot landed right next to them. It appeared to have jet boosters on the legs, dual rocket launchers, and one mini gun on the front "Surrender now if you want to live, or face the wrath of Commander Tyrant."
Relic chuckled. "Do you really think you could ever capt-" Relic was pushed out of the way by Flower as a laser shot straight through her. Relic looked up in shock as to what just happened. "Flower, why'd you save me?"
Flower coughed weakly. "Cause you are… probably the only…. One who can defeat… him. Please… for…" Flower collapsed as her life had ended. Relic dropped his head in sadness.
"Are you ready to surrender now, or will you join her as well?" Tyrant spoke.
A single tear fell from Relic's eyes. "Flower, you may have dyed to protect me, but your death will not be in vain." Relic looked up at the robot with fire in his eyes. "Now your time has come to pay!"
"Fine by me. Now feel my wrath!" A laser shot out of the robot that Relic quickly dodged. The laser however caused the mountain to collapse As Relic and Tyrant fell, Relic bounced off nearby debris to slow his decent while Tyrant just hovered down. As they landed, Relic noticed a golden object behind the massive robot.
"The warp ring, I still have a chance."
"You'll have to get past me if you want to escape alive." Tyrant aimed at him.
Relic assumed a defensive stance. "Okay then, but don't say I didn't warn you."
Tyrant began by firing his rockets at Relic, which he hopped on to get closer. Relic then hurled an energy blast at the cockpit. "Urgh, why you little..."
"What's the matter, you can't catch something if you can't even touch it." Relic then jumped up and held his hand out as it began to glow a faint green. "Sonic Wind!" Relic sent five slashes of wind at Tyrant, which had no effect.
"Alright, my turn now." Tyrant pressed a button and began to fire his mini guns at Relic. "Let's see you dodge this."
Relic began running around the bullets. "You mean like this?"
Tyrant began to think he was going to fail at catching this hedgehog brat, until... "Alright, here's your end." He pressed a glowing red button that showed a skull on it. The underside of the robot opened up and dropped a large bomb with a timer ticking down. "Now let's see if you can defeat me in five mintues, or the whole mountain comes crashing down on us."
Relic smirked and charged energy into both his hands. "Do you really think that'll help? All you did was shorten the time we got to fight each other." Relic then fired a barrage of energy blasts, forcing Tyrant to fall back. "You killed my friend, and you still have the guts to kill me?" Relic charged in and began glowing with a red arua. "Chaos Blast!" Relic stopped and sent an explosion hurtling out of him, ripping the Tyrant's walker apart.
"No, how could one being be so powerful?" Tyrnat panicked and hit an eject button, sending him out of the robot and nearby the bomb. "Looks like I have no choice, I have to detonate the bomb now." Tyrnat held up a control panel and pressed his thumb over the button. "Looks I win this time hedgehog."
Relic quickly decided to take his chances and head for the warp ring. "I gotta hurry before...." BEEP. An even bigger explosion formed and started ripping the mountain apart and sent Relic flying nearby the warp ring. "I gotta.... make it." Relic crawled nearby the ring and put his hand near it. "Looks like you failed commander, but you did prove a good challenge." Relic vanished as gigantic rocks fell where he was only moments ago.
