Will Caligan's new character The Crow King kinda struck a chord with me; so I ended up drawing my version
I envisioned him as a kinda smooth talking badass who ain't afraid to snap yer neck faster than you can eat crow!

Now this a style you can work with. I know you're working towards that realistic concept art level, but if you were to put together panels in this style, I'm pretty sure people wouldn't complain.

I think I'm still kind of experimenting a bit with what I'm comfortable with; This would be good and fast for quick roughs and storyboards, maybe for initial concepts, but I really like the rough painterly look I've been trying to do too; the 'realistic' style is just me pushing to see how far I can take that, so if I'm ever asked to do 'box art' I know I've got the foundations to be able to work from.
Once I'm really comfortable with digital painting, I wanna really push the 'design' side of this whole thing; I've been working on a lot of composition and trying to get a more solid foundation of lighting before I try to design actual stuff, like buildings mechs guns vehicles etc... I don't want my current art level to hold back any designs I come up with y'know?

Yeah I get where you're trying to push your realisitc art talents. But this style here could easily be used for a comic/graphic novel is what i was trying to say. Keep up an entire issue with this style people would probably dig it, the elongated features, the batman-esque thick shadows, the noir-ish colour-scheme. Would look pretty good.

Yeah sounds like a plan; don't have any idea about location characters or story, but that's where you come in
I dunno why I didn't see this comment the other day, I've been kinda pre-occupied since last week so I probably just missed it - Mathew's been in hospital after a car accident,
had to have skin grafts and bonework done; hopefully he'll be able to come home tomorrow, but we're not sure yet...

Oh I can fill that in, infact I already have an Idea... badguys! Instead of being a hero story, have the story of a villain, explore how he becomes a villain and builds a criminal empire. Kinda like batman in reverse, but with all things batman would never do!
Oh Damn, hes always getting into trouble! Good to hear hes almost home though (and thus on the road to recovery?) Sounds pretty serious though man, hope hes feeling better.

Thanks man, Yeah he was hit by an uninsured driver, fucked the bike, and ripped his knee to shit.
He's back home now, but it's the financial stuff that's more of the problem.
Hopefully we'll get through it and he'll come out the other side on another bike.
