Description At last. It was the third panel that was giving me hell, though it seemed easy enough. I tried several different perspectives, but somehow they all looked like crap. This looks fairly decent, so it will have to do. Because now I'm so tired of this page that I just want to puke on it.

I actually love the third panel, especially Athena's grumpy face.

Thanks! Athena's expression is the best thing in that panel.

This whole scene has been very much edited and redrawn. I recently posted the newer version on Smack Jeeves: theia-mania.smackjeeves.com/co… .

Ah okay, I will take a look! I saw that noted on both comics' gallery pages but it was easier to start reading them on here, for me.

Did Zeus asked Ares to barge in if Athena left him speechless?

Haha! No, he was just lucky there.

Ah, poor Athena. I find this page funny though because you see, I'm in the midst of getting ready for college and whatnot--I just went to my first-year orientation in fact--and Zeus' speech is so exactly like the kind of speeches I've been hearing all the time!

Yay! I was hoping that people could relate to Athena's situation in this way. That's why I described the whole choosing a domain thing like choosing a career.

Well it looks like Ares has matured a little bit and is acting a bit more civil. Zues actually can be quite a good father and mentor when he puts his mind too it. Ok I need to research this game a bit. Athena does not look too happy though to see her little brother when he barges in.

Ares can behave quite well sometimes. He would have been less hostile to Athena if he had known who she was when she turned up. But even if they both now know that they have to try to get along, they don't really like each other. They tolerate each other at best.

First time I saw him though, when she puts him in the jar, I wanted to punch his lights out

He was behaving very badly then. Well, he still does sometimes (as you will see later).

That was not where you were with that at all, Zeus, and you know it.

Ah perspective, the one thing almost every artist always has a hard time dealing with.

Aw Athena. I'm sure Pallas in some way knows that it wasn't your fault.

I don't think I've ever met a cartoonist who likes to draw backgrounds and perspectives. Even those who are really good at it seem to think it's boring.

Hm, Athene and Ares are getting along for a change. That's good. Of course, since Athene is thinking about a military career, they may not last. And the 'other things' refer to Typhon and his kind, I assume? Either way, nice update, and I'm glad to see that Zeus and Athene are continuing to bond. Shouldn't Ares be missing Hera, though, she she's his mom and one of the few Olympians that actually like him (in canon)?

Thanks!
Yes, Ares and Athena tolerate each other. For now. They certainly don't like each other, but they know that they have to try to get along. I think that Ares is missing his mom (yes, he should do. Hera is probably a bit nicer to him than Zeus is), but he probably doesn't say it to anyone but Rhea. And, yes, Zeus is referring to monsters and other gods when he says that Athena should learn to defend herself.

That panel is worth it. I love Thea's little slouch.

Aww, little Ares is nicer. Though really, he's going to take someone's eye out with that.

Ooo, so many plot points hinted at and foreshadowed! It's interesting to see how Athena reacts to the possibility of further conflict, considering the bad associations.

The choosing of domains is also interesting; aside from the main three, I assumed the gods just grew into their roles without deliberately choosing them...

Things other than human? Ominous.

Thank you!

As I mentioned before, making Athena a warrior goddess despite what happened to Pallas was the weak spot of my story. But I think I'll manage to tie everything together quite nicely in the end.

Yes, in the myths many of the gods simply seem to have grown into their roles, as if it was destined from the very beginning (though they sometimes needed to prove themselves before their power and functions were acknowledged. Like when Apollo killed Python and founded his temple at Delphi). In Athena's case I thought it could be more interesting and more easy for people to relate to her situation if I described the choosing of domains like choosing a career.

Oh, yes. Ominous.
