Inktober 13: Ereshkigal, Queen of the Nether World.
In those days, in those distant days,
in those nights, in those remote nights,
in those years, in those distant years;
in days of yore, when the necessary things
had been brought into manifest existence,
in days of yore, when the necessary things
had been for the first time properly cared for,
when bread had been tasted for the first time
in the shrines of the Land,
when the ovens of the Land had been made to work,
when the heavens had been separated from the earth,
when the earth had been delimited from the heavens,
when the fame of mankind had been established,
when An had taken the heavens for himself,
when Enlil had taken the earth for himself,
when the nether world had been given
to Ereshkigal as a giftβ¦

Her first husband Gugalanna seems to have died somehow and in later stories she married Nergal (either by force or by her own choice depending on the version). But married or not Ereshkigal seems to be the main ruler of the underworld.

Either way, Lady has taste, I like them hairy, brute types. lol Thou hairy skinny pale nerds like Hades are okay, if they're well hung.

Haha! I was going for the stern and unimpressed look, since underworld gods tend to be like that, but it also could be interpreted that she's unimpressed with her "gift". XD

Thanks! Yeah, in some of the stories she doesn't exactly seem to have a happy life. At least in the story "Nergal and Ereshkigal" (the Assyrian version) she seems to get a good marriage with Nergal.
