Description
Of all the things that make this place a success, community is second only to the art. The range of nationality, race, religion, politics and sexual orientation, as well as medium, talent, tastes and motivations of the artists speaks volumes to the diversity of this site. Whatever category you identify with you will not only find like-minded deviants, but those that will will challenge and inspire you to see more and create more than you would otherwise. In this image are the EC's (emoticon versions of OC's) of 128 deviants, some of whom have more than one representation. Many of them are people that I have had the pleasure of learning from, being inspired by, and in a few cases been the inspiration for creating art. This is my Thank You to all of you.
I am certain I have missed some EC's, so don't feel left out. After a while, it starts to spin your head to try and remember all of them. If you know of any, or have one, I'd be happy to add them in the snapshot. Just mention them in the comments below and I'll put them on my list. It takes me about 20 to 40 min. to draw one. All of these are made from bases I created, then colored to look like the original artists version. Some are very close, a few I took a little artistic liberty with, but all should be recognizable. It's amazing how diverse a 15 by 15 pixel image can be!

I do that too often (find a piece I missed), especially since the community disappeared. I really miss it too. It was great motivation for staying up too late before a work day or pulling an all-nighter on the weekend just to get one... more... frame... pixelled!
Motivation is rarely there these days , even if inspiration pokes it's head in. I'm sure most of these people have moved on by now.

These are specifically emoticonists. Before the icon type emoji's took over, there was a vibrant community of artists.

Cool......this looks awesome, I love how Winged Ninja is sitting on the "T". I do miss the community and what my ECs did to helped it, but as the others say the Spark is hard to keep up. It's good to know we have someone to keep the "Emoticonist" spirit going

I think a large portion of the emoticonists just happened to move on (rl stuff) in a short span. Not away though. I've gotten wonderful feedback regarding this piece from people that thought they were 'forgotten'. The art is what's missing, not the people. So, since many of the new emoticonists are getting buried in the AddMedia stuff, I'm trying to give them another place to get seen with TheEmoticonGallery and do whatever else I can.
Emoticonists are the most approachable group of artists here (imo), and I think there are still many great emoticons to be made yet.

I thought I had commented on this. (Probably should from my Mirz123 account -- but I'm lucky to comment anywhere these days.) You've done an amazing job on this. You have also been a great cheerleader for the community the past few years when many of us old-timers stepped back for various reasons. Your love and dedication to trying to keep that spark alive is wonderful and I thank you for that. Truly, I think you deserve a huge senior tick (or medal as it is now) for it. Thank you keeping things going. Hopefully one day the fires will burn hot again.
P.S. I love love that you have Minnie creating emoticon signs.

The creative outlet and feedback for improving have helped me get through things the past 5 years in particular. I've read comments from people over that time regarding changes in dA, the community, etc. but I think there are changes in ourselves and rl experiences that go unnoticed when we reflect on our experience here. Some things change, some things don't. I just do what I can to help. Getting a 'medal' or not wouldn't change any of that. I appreciate the thought though!
I did a 'personal' touch on a couple of them. Seemed like something that should be there!
