It's actually an older shading I tried to play with a long time ago. 15 colors for the base (not including the expression). This time around I made some hue adjustments in the highlights (warmer) and it blends better.
It's still a bit difficult to get the highlights around the mouth right with it, but I wanted to experiment with something different for the advent calendar.

Changing the hues can make a huge difference.
I forgot to mention that I also love how he wiggles with his hands to keep the balance
