Description Emus have claws on their WINGS. I located an emu farm near me and the owner, Ralph Gierke, let me come over and take some pictures, video, and audio of his animals.

Now that this is uploaded, I don't have to show people the bloody dead emu's wing claw anymore that comes up on google image search. This is more pleasant.

Thanks so much for this brilliant and mindblowing picture! I link to it all the time when going in depth on the bird-dinosaur link and on the dear modern day theropods that have some particularly primitive characteristics.

i just recently learned that so e modern birds have wing claws and i think thats just. SO DARN COOL! ive been searching the internet for images and i found this one! amazing stuff! is the claw functional at all or is it pretty much vestigial and useless? this is so interesting

Ostriches have claws too. I don't know if they're useless but emu wings are so teeny it's hard to think they'd be good for anything. If they don't get in the way of survival then that's also a good enough reason for still having them.

its very cool! i was searching and i guess a lot more birds than i thought hve the claws. ducks and chickens have claws too and theres some bird called Hoatzin that climbs with them when its young . i just think this is so cool! ive never noticed the claws ever until it popped up in an article on evolution that i was reading.
