Edit: check out the completed chibi version!Holy crap! I finally painted Juri! lol I've been working on her off and on for about half a year. Since I sculpted her a little ways back she doesn't accurately show my current sculpting skills. But despite all the things that went horribly wrong with her- including weak armature, first attempt at the doll hair that went horribly wrong that I had to fix, and legs that are too short, along with an assortment of other problems.... I think she turned out ok. I especially like how her face looks.
I think it turned out great.She's supposed to have Koto, the other referee girl from Yu Yu Hakusho on the other side of the base. But I think I'm done with this sculpt. If i end up completing this idea of Juri and Koto I will start over again from scratch and make a better Juri.
From the bottom of her feet to the top of her head she is 6 inches tall. Measuring from the highest point of her raised hand she is 6 3/4 inches tall.

This is a beautiful piece with a perfect pose that captures Juri's spunk and flare as a tournament announcer. I hope this critique will encourage you to make more sculptures and improve on your work.
COLOR: The pigment is evenly painted and faithful to the series. I doubt this are could be improved on.
PROPORTION: This has the biggest area for improvement. The curves that make Juri so appealing is sadly lacking in this piece. Her head is also a little too big for her body, making her seem like a cross between life-size Juri and an SD-Juri [although if that's what you were aiming for, then the proportions on this piece would be perfect.]
MATERIAL: The hair. This is the first thing that caught my attention, especially since it covered her ear-fins ENTIRELY in front view. You already seem aware of this problematic part of the sculpture so I will not discuss it in detail; I just want to point out that perhaps using the same material for both the body AND the hair might have yielded better results. Also, the hat thing... bothers me.
POSITION: She's doing what she does best, and her pose tells it all. However, I would have preferred her in the middle of the wooden stand, not on the side.

thanks for the crit! lol yeah I had tons of problems with her armature, and this was actually my first attempt at the doll hair, she's just been standing around unpainted for a few months. LOL so... um.. yeah.. the back of her head actually has a gaping hole in it that you can't see because it's covered by the do-rag thing.. >_> I put way too much hair in her head. lol I'll probably never get around to putting Koto on the back side of the base like I planned, but I may completely redo this and finished it the way I want it in the future sometime.

lol 6 months to make her is fast? All that was left to do on her was to paint her. I finally got around to it tonight

Six months on and off... Hmm... sounds about right. After all you're going into great detail, good quality can't ever be rushed. XD
