that is awesome that you chose to illustrate such a powerful moment between Men and Finrod.
I read this story recently of the Battle of Sudden Flame and the brave rescue of Finrod by Barahir. And its truly tragic that that oath gets him killed.
I love the days when Men and Elves were friends...

Good work on the scale mail. Any tips you could give me on how to draw it?

Very awesome piece, the details are amazing, well, details in your work usually are but this has got to be one of the best!
I especially like Barahir's face and expression.

Gay wedding? To calm you down, not all people on the internet think something like that at every opportunity… we devART users are innocent and nice people. Or at least, most of us *laughs*.
However, nice work as always.

Heheh yay! First the Feanorians and now Finrod. Ah my Silm quota is truly filled. Finrod's hairstyle a little different from how I always envisioned him but then I guess the vision differs from artist to artist. I love his threads though.

OMG THAT'S SO MY OTP NOW!!!!! 8D
No, just kidding. In all seriousness, this is a great representation of the oath. I love the details on Felagund's... dress-thing.

This one is great, maybe Barahir is too tall for my vision, but it doesn't matter - very nice vision with great details again, with visible differences in elven and human outfits.

Heh, people always seem to think the Elves were ridiculously tall, but personally I've gone for some moderation.. I’ve given this quite a lot of thought in the past (and also very recently, actually..). I think perhaps Thingol could've been over 7' tall, but that’s about it.
I don’t expect too many people to agree with me, but I figured the average height for the Ñoldor would be around 6' (183 cm) for the men and 5'8" (173 cm) for the women. That’s still "very tall" – especially as people generally weren't likely to be very tall back then (yeah, yeah, I know it's a fictional era, but still..). Those born in Aman in the light of the Trees would often be taller than the Elves were originally or those born in the Exile. I also imagine the Vanyar being on the average slightly taller than the Ñoldor.
The Sindar and the Men of the three first houses would be almost as tall, with the house of Hador the tallest and Men of Brethil (house of Haleth) the shortest. Other humans, like the Easterling, would be considerably shorter. I think the Númenoreans in their prime were probably taller than anyone, even the Elves.
I've always liked the idea that Tolkien seems to have had initially that Men (or Edain, more specifically) were more physical than the Elves in appearance, but still frailer in reality.. Sort of like Men had stronger bodies, but the Elves had stronger fëar that empowered their bodies.. so they were actually capable of much more than Men, even if they looked much more thin and slender - which would also make them seem somewhat taller (- hence the slightly anorexic look of my Elves..). Does that make any sense?
