I hope it does! I used that thick salt with the big grains. If it doesn't work, don't give up and try again

Glad you liked it

i think the salt would have been more obvious if you used more of it, and tries to sprinkle it in different patterns i gave it a try once but used too much, and the result was a bunch of excrescences that looked ...cool, just not cool enough.

I see what you mean
I was afraid with this one; I wanted texture, but I still wanted it to look like a sky, so I put too little salt. I don't know why in god's name those brown things appeared, but it doesn't obther me that much. One of the things that I liked about using salt was the element of surprise I haven't tried it again, but I'd love to do it again

nice. The birds/branches are a little awkward - too solid and heavy to fit with the quality of light in this painting. But it's a nice image.

Thanks I never noticed what you're saying but what happened with the branches and the birds is that they came fom my head, I did not use a refference, and I drew them pretty fast (following an impulse ) so maybe they don't fit the image as well as they should.

It's just the whole thing's quite light, and they're a little clumsy. You could look at some Chinese silk painting, they're quite good at this sort of thing. V nice, anyway.

I like how the salt worked because it adds just a subtle texture. If it were too dramatic, it would distract from the birds. You could so easily sell paintings like this, if you were interested.

You think? I never consider selling anything before, but I could give it a try.

simple but unique. i like this one a lot. salt works better when there is a really watery wash over it and it has time to absorb the water droplets.

Thanks for the advice, I can't remember if it was very wet, but I'm sure I left the grains all night. I haven't done this technique since I did this, but I'm keeping your words in mind
glad you liked it!

The colors are great again in this piece. You know how to make some very rich and lively colors. I like the birds in this as well, very nicely drawn. Good stuff with the salt too, it looks neat and adds texture.

Salt never works for me like I want it too either. What I have found, is you let the watercolor dry a little bit, and when the paper is still damp, put salt in the areas you want pattern. Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot!
Salt only worked in the darker areas, I can't see the effect in the yellowish part, when I used it the paper was damp, but not soaking wet. In some areas it was hard for me to remove the salt of the dry paper, and when I finally could that part looked a bit more brown than it was supposed to. I'll definetly try using salt again, but in a piece with darker colours.
