Yay, Ukitake in a great pose. It's such a shame we get to see him fighting so seldom. Great job, I even thought it's traditional media.

The gritty play of red on the background is an excellent accent on this piece, Abigel, but really hints at some of the turmoil going on.
The greatest thing I take from what you wrote there is that you'll "never give up." And I hope you never do. We all get disillusioned at times, but please realize that those kind of feelings are temporary, and as long as you focus on drawing for the sake of enjoying to draw, you'll always have an answer to why you draw.
I realize pageviews are important here on dA, but it's definitely not the measure of a great artist. Those numbers are heavily tainted by what's popular right now. So it's hard to put much stock in it knowing how much it's affected by that. For me especially, it's disheartening to think it might all be based on what I draw, not how well I draw it, so the best thing to do is to simply focus on drawing what you personally enjoy. I'm not saying filter out everything else, but just keep in mind the many different elements affecting something like pageviews, and for you, although you deserve so much more, it's definitely not the authority on how great of an artist you are, not in my eyes anyway.
Sorry for such a long post, but I wish you much success and hope you will continue for sure!

I absolutely love long comments and time put in them
Well, this pageviews were a lot about a little selfish part of myself, who wanted to just see many people enjoying her art, but with time flowing I'm starting to realise what you just wrote, that most important is enjoyement of creating and art in the meaning of it, and not art-popularity-pageviews. I work and pracise rather not to be recognised (though that would help in my pro-artist wannabe career), but to be able to give life to the images I see in my head ( ). I see many great artists here on da, who complain they don't have time to draw something for themselves because of mountain of commissions and for now, I'm glad I don't have to pay that price of life fed by art.
Anyway, thank you And the same goes to you for your artlife! I hope you will have, if not already has, a great reviewers&supporters like your are

Well written my friend! I think "art-popularity-pageviews" is definitely a part of being on dA, so that's why I don't think it should be completely forgotten, because, like you said and I will indeed admit, we all would like to see many people enjoying our art. But the pressure from something like being swamped by commissions is a great example of why I love doing art for myself. Though, I actually think you could make a great living off of your art!
It's always a mixture of personal enjoyment and recognition, the trick is keeping it balanced and not letting one overshadow the other.
I look forward to us figuring all this out in the future here! ^^

OMG!!! He looks so AWESOME!!! I love it!!
Aww... come on i know you'll get there.
"And there is also most stupid question on earth, in most cases having only pointless answers: why? Why do I draw? It seems clear to me, most of the time, I have my dreams and goal about it, but sometimes... I'm just so confused and disgusted... "
To tell you the truth, i also ask myself those same questions, every time i draw. And well, those answers & questions aren't pointless, its good to sometimes question what you are doing in order not to hurt yourself and others. You just gotta know what the real answer is to all those questions, and sometimes, its what your heart tells you to do and no one can say no to what their heart tells them to do. [wow, look at me blabber on]
"I know also that I'll never give up. And I will draw what I like. Sometimes." Now thats the spirit! Never give up!
