"Can't believe the show is actually in Schönbrunn" William said, slowly turning his head to look at his sister.
The former Paper Plane had resigned to pursue her career in dressage, but would cheer on her team mates
at every coming show, especially since William was still competing. She grinned excitedly "Home turf, huh?"
and watched the highway unfold in front of them. 60km Wien. "There will be 47 entrants, they say..." Will
made a face, not bad really. It was to be expected that the event would grow. "I am SOOOO curious about
the new teams" Grace beamed and they started to browse the starting list...and kinda stalk some of the new
entrants. Gotta know your competition , right? They were happy to see at least one more Obertaurer on the
event, what a nice occasion to represent in their founding-country!

William had not arrived alone from the Austrian stable, Sam was in the same truck. He had been working
at Imperials since many years, had become the head trainer in show jumping and William's best friend.
Now...they would compete against each other. It made his stomach turn...
Of course he knew it was just a competition, nothing that would harm their friendship, right?
Would jealousy get between them? The bitterness of losing? The awful effects of success and fame?
He hoped not. What if Sam turned out to be so successful, hed have way better offers as trainer and
competitor than Imperials did. Shortly after getting dressed into the familiar uniform, he went to prepare his
frosted blue roan stallion, Ozzy. Originally his plan was to bring Oscar, but in the last minute before
sending in the registration, he changed his mind. A gut feeling told him, that Ozzy might get a one of a kind
chance in Vienna. The Obertaurer was increasingly worse with traveling. With age, he became more intolerant
of the new surroundings, but Vienna was not involving flying nor a straining, multiple days long journey. Merely
a few hours on the highway and they would be at the grand sight of the Champions League.
Ozzy HAD to get this chance. During the warm-up a few people would say he is absolutely not having a good day.
Screaming at stallions who passed by, pinning his ears at every stranger coming too close, biting the vet....
That could not be further from the truth. Ozzy is an exceptionally vocal and moody horse by nature,
having that show through instead of his quiet, almost shy self, was a huge relief. Will apologized on his behalf,
hoping he wouldnt get a reputation being unable to handle his horse....

Sooon. Soooooon it would be their turn. And sooner he would be looking for Sam and wish him well at the show.
They were not rivals...they were friends who ended up in different teams. Despite being supportive to his mates
and proud to be a Paper Plane, he would always celebrate the success of someone as close as Sam.
He waved at his family in the audience, who so loyally followed through ever since last year.
Slowly he felt like the troubled relationship between him and his father had dissolved and more than ever
he wanted to prove Damon that he was serious about his career, that he was able to make a champion
out of a horse that he had raised entirely on his own.

"Let's get your Barockentaurer ass over those jumps, Ozzy"
