I do like how Toriel said that they will continue to love both Asriel and Frisk without fail, even though Frisk isn't really their child. That shows how much they care, treating him like one of their own even if he's not really a part of their family.
Or is he? Was it ever confirmed that Frisk is a Dreemurr in OTV, that they were adopted and are brothers with Asriel, or is Frisk just living with them?

who's to say that toriel didn't actually try to reason with asgore? more than likely, she actually did attempt. but asgore was too blinded by rage and need for revenge to see any reason. and toriel was hurt by this fact. they were talking about lives after all. human lives, but lives nonetheless. and toriel would not have anything to do with the murder of innocents, which is completely understandable. asgore had already jumped the gun and made a proclamation to his people to wage war against the humans, and he couldn't go back on his word. so toriel left.
the effect of losing his children may have been apparent with asgore, but i can assure you, it tore toriel apart as well. and yet, even with the loss of her children, she knew that all of humanity wasn't to blame, and that life is precious, and stuck to her ideals. perhaps the only thing she did wrong was having the expectation that asgore also held true to those ideals. and being heartbroken by the fact that he would put those ideals aside in a fit of anger.
can you even begin to imagine yourself in her shoes? how big and crushing a decision that even had to be? boss monsters live for hundreds of years. possibly longer, if they don't have any offspring. and it's implied that asgore and toriel had been together for a very, very long time. and obviously they loved each other very much, seeing as they had asriel. they were planning to live out the remainder of their years together, since boss monsters age as their child grows.
no matter how good of intentions asgore had, or how hurt he may have been, it didn't justify genocide. and toriel knew that. she was in just as much suffering as asgore was, but stayed true to her ideals.
perhaps toriel could have been more resolute in speaking to asgore. but even asgore himself admits to the player that he lost himself in his anger. what more could toriel have done? instead of leaving, should she have silently stayed and watched asgore destroy himself as he killed the humans that fell? she already knew that he wouldn't go back on his word to annihilate humanity, since he had already roused the people's hopes and couldn't crush them.
there's just... a lot of suffering on both sides in this case. there's no real black-or-white.

It's just as she said at the ending of the game. Asgore could've taken the one soul and crossed the barrier to gather more. But instead, he waited for human children to fall Underground and had his soldiers kill them, or bring them to him to be killed.
As a mother, I don't see her forgiving that so easily.

And one needs to take into the fact that Asgore also is the king. He has a duty to his people and how adding that to the factor... really doesn't help in this case. Doesn't excuse him for what he did but that shouldn't be forgotten.

you're not wrong, as I've once read a story where undyne said to toriel that she was a coward for running away and I agree with her, but I prefer to say that they still share the blame.

I can agree with you on that 1. They're both at fault they both need forgiveness but most of all I hope at the end of the game where the coffins were open were the kids coming back to life. I'd like to think that anyways. My Jew I think that by coming back from dead they were either all skeletons or different type of monsters. I believe the barrier may have affected them or the magic inside the mountain.
