Description
This is by far the most pride enducing piece I've done for class yet. For Drawing I, we were supposed to pick one of our favorite drawings from one of our favorite artists, and I chose my childhood favorite, H.R. Giger.I chose this one in particular because it's the least sexual, the least complicated though interesting, and it represents my current difficulty with religion, mostly from the conversion to Christianity of my brother. Done in charcoal in one night, I don't want to pick up another charcoal stick for a few weeks at least.

It's a nice piece.
In my opinion, this image tells me that the evil people on earth (say Satan) are using the image of God in order to impose their opinions... It's my opinion though.

There's a band who used this as the cover of one of their albums... I think it's a death metal band called Celtic Frost.

I actually recreated "Satan 1" for my Drawing 1 class too, for a similar reason in fact. It's a fantastic image, and you did a great job on it. My one and only issue with this recreation is that it's just a little bit cartoony, but nevertheless it is a fantastic piece. I'll have to remember to post mine once I actually finish it.

awesome work i enjoyed looking, seems very similar to the original, it was actually used for a celtic frost album cover ( black metal band) , also giger has done work for carcass (deathmetal band) again its a simple piece (compared to gigers other works) but very effective, for the album heart work. thankyou for sharing

I was so worried about that that I almost didn't even do it for class, but I haven't had one person give me more than positive feedback on it. And I figured that I should stop drawing to get praise and start making art, and although this isn't technically mine, it's definately one of my favorites as well as the most fun to draw.
This has definately inspired me to work harder on my studies as well, so thank you for the support!

Giger has a tendency to ruin everyday images forever. Him and Quinten Tarentino, I can't listen to "Stuck in the Middle" without imagining Mr. Blonde chopping off some poor cops ear (luckily they did that off camera, but you know). And I'm proud that I've stunned you into ineloquence, that's tough for a well rounded vocabulary holding individual such as yourself.

I like the detail and shading that went into it. It's very good. I like the obvious struggle between good and evil going on in the picture. It's deep and a little taboo. Just what I like to see in art.

I actually almost didn't do it because I was worried about offending people, then that's what ended up sealing the deal. I spend most of my efforts trying to gain praise and approval from other people, so I figured it would be good for me to do something I liked especially if most people wouldn't.
But my class didn't seem too phased by the imagery, they're pretty cool.
