Yet again playing around with the thought of making a tarot deck, at least the major arcana. In any case, this one would be The Empress. Hrm. I dunno. twenty two drawings fitted to a theme of the same style might be impossible right now.Anyway, original drawing is about 5x12 inches. mechanical pencil on paperboard.

Like said, there's something fascinating about the face. It probably has something to do with her blank eyes.
Another thing that i like is how you've managed to make it art nouveau but at the same time give a medieval feel to it...

I tend to do that a lot with the eyes. it might have something to do with my love for greek and roman sculpture. I know that it was once painted, but the look of the pale stone and blank eyes has just always fascinated me. It's sort of sinister, or maybe just a step removed, it makes things seem aloof or otherworldly, just because as people we're so used to looking into the eyes of people we're talking to. heh.

Well she definitely looks otherworldly and perhaps a bit sinister, but also all-seeing in a way which is fitting as she is The Empress.
You're probably right about the eyes, I've never thought of it that way. But the eyes are definitely important... Now that I think about it I usually draw them closed. I wonder if that says something about me
