Description
You shut the front door; wincing a little at the loud clang as you bent to take your shoes off. Done; you straightened up, tugged the collar of your dress shirt loose and padded to the living room before sinking onto the sofa with a blissful sigh. Determined footfalls filled the silence. You turned; eager to see what- whom the sound heralded. Oikawa strode in; his body rigid with anger and his face twisted into an almost snarl. “I’m sorry I missed the game,” you said; forestalling his rant.
Tooru's anger drained out of him as he noticed just how wiped out you were. Never one to drop an issue without a fuss though, Oikawa rocked back on his feet and balanced his right hand against his hip. He tossed his head back so he was looking down at you with a disgruntled look that had I’m still going to put you through the wringer written all over it. You squashed the urge to chuckle at the resident drama queen and rose to hug him.
“Congrats on the win, Tooru.” “Iwa-chan told you, that traitor.”
“I asked him to keep me updated.”
“Hmmm… Maybe you should be dating him.”
“No, thank you. All I want is you.”
“Well, I wanted you there, ____.”
“I know, I wanted to be there for you too.”
“You should just quit and be my manager or something.”
“You sure we can handle that? Any fight we have could affect your play, you know?”
“We don't fight- Urgh, I hate it when you sound so reasonable,” he whined; a petulant look on his face.
“Love you too but as much as I hate to admit it, you don’t need me that badly.”
“Hmmph! I don’t know what you’re talking about but I’ll forgive you because it’s the only game you’ve missed in a while. You have to take me out on a date as an apology though.”
“Your wish is my command, Oh Grand King-sama.” Tooru scoffed and pinched your belly, which made you yelp as he cackled.
“Have you learnt your lesson, ____,” he crowed; rubbing the sore spot in a soothing gesture. He could be such a mass of contradictions at times; this lover.
“Yes, you demon child.” Tooru giggled at the accusation then finally hugged back; hands tight around your waist and head tucked onto the curve of your neck.
“How was work?”
You pecked the crown of his head at the question; the gesture made Tooru sigh and lean closer to you. You smiled and started swaying from side to side before filling him in on the events of the day right there in the moonlit crossroads of the apartment; where the kitchen, living room and bedrooms met.
