Our first focus on this lovely piece is the shading, which is deep but not excessive. It helps to accentuate the smooth curves and adds such wonderful dimension that the image appears to gallop right off the page. The pose is also wonderful, creating both movement for the figure and intimidation for any potential foe the Rapidash may be facing. The colors are not as subtle as many deviations of Rapidash we've seen. Instead, it alludes to the smooth coat, making the figure realistic and nearly palpable. Though the flames appear hastily applied, they are still lovingly arranged, and the design of them is unique to this artist, from what we have seen. The only real distraction is the small line near the bottom of the image that may have been created by a scanning error. Otherwise, this piece is wonderfully crafted.
