This looks truly beautiful. The wolf looks to have a sort of wise look from age that makes the picture really stunning. Great job.

WHOA! That's amazing! The soft texture is really impressive. The way the fur stands is indicative that you know the anatomy very well.

That is so great! I thought it was a photograph when I looked at it, and then I had to keep looking. So then I had to open it and check how you did it. Excellent work!

I love the fur texture, very accurate! this is so pretty. :3

You should do a tutorial if you ever have time. x)

Thanks!

Well I've never really considered actually doing a tutorial! I suppose I could scan the image in several stages of its completion... Really what I believe art is all about is to art is just to pour hours and hours in, draw what you see and not what you think you see, and try to understand why there is a shadow there, a holes and clumps in the fur there.. etc.

Thanks for the suggestion

A prismacolour is a brand of coloured pencil. They're very smooth and vivid to draw with but they're also quite expensive. (AUS$2 per pencil -you could buy a whole stack of pencils for that price!)

IMO, they're worth the money, though.

how long did this take u? did u use a reference picture

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Acaciacat In reply to TwistedDragon [2005-06-26 07:51:33 +0000 UTC]

It's difficult to say - I should really start taking note of how long they take me. But it was done over the course of a couple of weeks, in between studying. A good 8- 10 hrs or so?

I did use a few reference pictures for this one. I never draw without reference! I also look at live subjects (my cats) for fur.

Thanks very much, Oliver Yes, I was having problems with it too - it didn't show until the next day.

I'm a huge serval fan too, as you've probably figured Servals are my favourite subject!

Acaciacat In reply to SpiritWolfen [2005-06-24 04:21:42 +0000 UTC]

You can so draw! And remember there's no such thing as talent, it's all determination and perspiration. Just keep at it hun

Prismacolours are wonderful!! They're so vibrant and smooth. Only problem is they're quite expensive, and they're hard to come by here in Aus since they're an American brand. But I actually only used 4 colours on this - two shades of blue and two of brown. And black, of course

Thanks Spiri!! *HUGS*

Simply beautiful hon. *she huggles tight* Question... whats the difference using Bristol board and prisma colors? just.. the texture? feel? Is it easy to use and do the detail for fur??? I LOVE this piece *Fav*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Acaciacat In reply to KovoWolf [2005-06-23 04:07:55 +0000 UTC]

Thankies so much Kovie!! Personally I use bristol board because it is incredibly smooth so I think it does allow for smaller details. My other drawing pads are grained and coloured pencil looks yucky on grain since it's intended for graphite.

Thanks for the fave!!! *HUGS*
