I have also inwardly nicknamed them 'Oily' and 'Icy', because of their respective demeanors (Seethe being Oily and Swelter being Icy, of course. 
) In the old version they pretty much had the same personality, though... I tried to make them less interchangeable (and I've actually done some digging into who each of them are... but that's material for another day, I'm afraid. xP )------------------*~STUFF~*---------------------

Sweeth and Swelter seem to have quite different personalities. I would have liked to see how they interact with each other. Like do they compliment each other's style or are they constantly at odds?

Nice detail showing the guilty paw prints. You even nailed their overall distribution as well. (Looking back I saw that they were in all the other pages leading up to this one too. My powers of observation have failed me.) A whole bunch around their huddle and one lone track leading to the wall of the cave.

Thank you! ^_^ Step-by-step is, briefly: Storyboard --> Sketch --> Speech bubbles--> Character lineart --> any BG lineart --> BG color --> Character color/shading... with the occasional variance based on what's going on in each page.

I knew these two would need names! Mafics get the more darker sounding, still based on fire/heat, names I see. Swelter is less dark sounding though, but no big deal!
Also, dat Team Rocket reference further down xD Meowth, that's right! Is either of these jerks female though? Either way...they need a little talking animal sidekick. Then again, that'd be too big of a reference for a completely original work, I'd assume.

Actually I haven't observed a noticeable difference in the way that Felsics name their children and the way that Mafics name their children... not insofar anyway. For instance, some Mafic-character names I've picked up on include 'Incense', 'Simmer', and 'Hearth', which are pretty warm and fuzzy.
If there's a reference anywhere to Team Rocket it was 100 percent unintentional, because I know pretty much nothing about said Team.

Yeah, they're from Pokemon lol. I didn't see any reference myself, just added to it. Somebody said "double trouble" in a comment and the Pokemon fans jumped on it right away. There's this thing that the Team Rocket trio says all the time in the anime, which fans could make a much better one, but we won't get into that:
Prepare for trouble!

Despite that bit about "protecting the world", they're actually villains, and Jessie, James, and Meowth are the most bumbling idiot villains I've ever seen in anything in my life lol. There's one song on the anime soundtrack literally called "Double Trouble" with them singing about themselves, one part goes:
We'll be the richest rogues of all time!
Masters of a grand design!
I'll be the king!
And I'll be the queen!
And I'll be the joker! The joker of crime!

Oh, it's not black and white at all! I've seen more kindly/well-meaning Mafics than rotten ones in the overall plot so far, and on the Felsic end there can definitely be jerks... for instance who do you think bullied Scald as he was growing up? They weren't Mafics, that's for sure!

Yes, they were named after the Old West bandit. There's another Team Rocket duo named Cassidy and Butch, another Old West bandit(Butch Cassidy). I love it when Nintendo gets clever. Cassidy and Butch are better at their job. Much better from what I remember, so I'm pretty sure Giovanni (the boss) just keeps Jessie and James around so he can have some sort of comedy and entertainment. Mafia crime lords probably don't get that much.
Jessie does have long pink hair, yeah. James has blueish purplish chin length hair. He's often holding a rose. And he crossdresses at a few points too. He's kind of flamboyant...I bet there's yoai smut of him out there with whatever male the artist wanted to put him with. But I've seen him paired with Jessie too, one person gave them twins, one of each gender, named Jolyn and Jace, and then another girl named Jerra. It was kinda cute. And funny because one of the twins walked in on them while they were conceiving Jerra so they had to quickly cover up lol. Forgot which one, but then Jace was holding newborn Jerra and it was dawww. ...Wait a second, don't you also have a Jerra? Some pirate/corsair type lady? Omg.
They're the only good part of the Pokemon anime these days imo. The protagonist Ash never knows what the heck he's doing anymore, he never becomes the league champion, it's getting stale. I haven't watched it in ages. But on the rare occasion I do see an episode, Jessie and James (and Meowth) still crack me up.
As far as the mafic/felsic thing goes, yeah, Scald isn't fully felsic, so of course he's going to get picked on for being different. It happens everywhere. Sadly.

Anyway yeah, there are border patrols for both tribes... actually I hope to give out more detailed information about the societal structuring of the Felsic and Mafic tribes, because I've dug up quite a bit of stuff. :'D I just have to figure out how to arrange it in such a way that is presentable to you all... you know, as opposed to rough hacked-out notes in a word processor.

Very good job with the malfic tribe redesign. The thinner limbs make them more repulsing, especially when Swelter crawls down the shaft, he looks like a spider
