Honestly, jasper is my favorite villain within the Steven Universe(universe), my only wish is for her to be redeemed She deserves so much more.
So since the new Steven bomb is coming around today (though I won't be able to watch it before tomorrow due to time zones) I managed to time my finishing this for today. It's something I've been working on for some time, though I originally never thought I'd get around to finish it. Most of the work was done last weekend, tbh. But oh my god hair is the most calming, yet the most frustrating thing to draw??? I am so torn. It's just so satisfying if you do it right, but if you do it wrong it's like hell is unleashed and you gotta work your ass off to fix it. Naturally this portrait's hair isn't as detailed and "realistic" as my previous one, as Jasper is a cartoon character and I wanted to keep some of that cartoony vibe to it. Speaking of; I accidentally gave her Rose's hair, but that's mostly due to how hard it is to make messy hair look good, you know?
Regardless, I wouldn't have submitted it if I didn't like the outcome, so there you go.
I would be thrilled to get some constructive criticism, as I've tried to implement some of the feedback I've received on my previous pieces. Especially regarding the smoothness of the skin and the contrast in value. I'm always up for improvement!

Okay so the skin you've painted! I don't even know where to start! It is so clean and smooth it's just perfect! The hair is so detailed it almost looks real however try out some darker shades I think, and add different tones as well! Maybe you could've used some reds and blues for the hair as well! I think your anatomy on this part of the body is spot on and the nose is just too original! I can't help it, it's cute in a weird way! And the organized, tiny square of lightning I mean that is something you can achieve by practice! Very well done!
However one thing that actually messes up the picture is the background! I don't know it's just sucks your character in (especially the top of the hair) and it really gave away from the popping out moment! So try maybe different background colors!
But honestly, the way you've painted this girl is just too good and In my honest opinion the background could be overlooked like it's nothing.

First of all: if you needed to improve on the smoothness of the skin and contrast in values, you really nailed this there !
The skin color is amazing, it look warm and smooth. I really like how the blue/violet light bounce on it. I can even feel her hairs reflecting the light on her .
I wont say much about this because I think it is perfect and fit really well what you drew !
Also the lips look great !
My main problem with what you made is the eyes, they look a little bit weird. I can't tell exactly where they are looking and it feel unncanny. The way the left eye is a little bit glowy is great but because the left eye is further away from the nose than the right one it really feel weird.
Also the direction of the strong light is a little bit inconsistent. looking at the nose cast shadows I feel like it is comming from the bottom but it dosn't illuminate under her chin.
Alsowhen this strong light hit her hair I don't think it should make a straight line, it seem like your hairs are flat where the light hit them ( and this is a shame because they look amazing and tri-dimensonnal in the rest of the image).
