Nice to see another SG Asgard fan - there aren't many, sadly.

yeah, its understandable that the fans move on, no new content afterall and I only got a bit back into it after rewatching the thor episodes... (even IF there was new content the asgard would still be dead and there goes my sole motivation for watching it)

Understandable indeed. Even more so as there are so many new series lately, that most people have forgotten about Stargate by now. Though, I still think that Stargate has a quality that hasn't been matched by many other stories. I just really love its complexity, it's plethora of characters. And I also love the fact that they've never taken themselves so utterly seriously.

True, all stories that will be set after the ending of SG1 and Atlantis won't have any Asgard anymore, and that is a real shame, because they're the best alien species Stargate has come up with. But as it seems, Stargate is dead anyway. :/ There doesn't seem to be anyone interested in coming up with something new for it...

I like a lot of sci-fi, including not only Stargate but also Star Trek and Star Wars. It's simply so that I find all these things very entertaining and they always give me a lot of inspiration.

I love that at the SGC they're all kinda like a big family with Hammond being some sort of grandfather who has to look after all those crazies.

I ignore that too. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN, YOU ALL HEAR???!
It's why I wrote my own version of Unending. I hate that episode with a passion. I never knew script writers could screw up a whole show with just one episode, but they did. Which is an achievement of its own THAT I DO NOT RESPECT.

If ever I manage to finish writing Legacies, there will be a cure and they'll indeed live happily ever after. By now I've written about a third of all the ideas I have for that thing.

Ah well, nice that you like them c: star wars is kinda boring to me and star trek too diplomatic and they are always only on their ship (makes sense in the show but meh)

yeah, that episode ruined everything for me too :/ I just couldn't imagine the asgard not coming up with a solution, especially with sg-1 helping...

and yesssss, they deserve that cure QwQ

I'm so fond of Star Wars because there are a lot of wonderful childhood memories connected to it. SW was the thing that got me interested in sci-fi in the first place. Back then we only had the original trilogy, and it was bliss. Everything they did later wasn't that great anymore, simply because I didn't have that emotional connection to it. But still, I'm going to watch the new movie and I'm looking forward to it.

I love Star Trek! Mostly because of this overly complex universe and the plethora of totally likable characters. If you'd like to have a try at Star Trek, you might like DS9, because those guys are not always diplomatic, and especially in later seasons they're at many places, not just ships.

Same. The Asgard are the most sophisticated people in the Stargate universe, they know literally everything. I mean, they can dilate time and some such stuff, and they know more about genetics than all other people combined. So it always felt quite unrealistic that they wouldn't come up with something. In my own head canon, Orilla has only been bait for the Ori, so that they think the Asgard are gone, while in truth they've just left for another galaxy to tend to their own problems before returning to the center stage and kicking the Ori's butts once and for all.

Indeed!

ah well, there are so many good things about both star trek and star wars, I'm just not too interested in sci-fi, I have some exceptions tho (well,,,,only stargate and mass effect really ^^``` I love when the focus is more on aliens c: space is kinda boring to me

yeS EXACTLY!!THEY ARE WAY TOO SMART TO JUST DIE ;∆; I was always sad with how much they had to sacrifice, and their home planet being destroyed is killing me, I would have loved to see more of it (I can just imagine sg-1 walking around there, bumping their heads everywhere XD to asgard the ceilings are luxuriously high but to everyone else,,,,,XD) but I absolutely love your headcanon!!! it would make much more sense than them destroying themselves!! >

Well, I have to admit that I'm a total sci-fi geek! My personal universe is full of characters from various movies and shows, and it's just pure awesomeness! I really like those stories of faraway places a lot, because they're so disconnected to daily life and this weird world with all its struggles. I both like stories that are about aliens and those about space travel and stuff. I'm interested in both speculations on other civilizations and future technology. As I said, I'm a geek.

It sometimes seemed to me as though the writers didn't really like the Asgard and therefore didn't know what to actually do with them. They never really developed them - which is why I had so much freedom when writing Legacies. There is so little background information about them in the show. All that Stargate SG1 tells us is that they're super advanced and at war with the Replicators. Everything else was shrouded in mystery. And then they disposed of them very conveniently, so they wouldn't have to think up more stories about them. In Atlantis we learn nothing about them until season 5, where they suddenly come up with a rogue Asgard faction, the Vanir, who are doing questionable science in the Pegasus galaxy. WTF? Really, I'm not only a little annoyed by how the Stargate writers handled the Asgard! *mutters angrily to herself*

Yeah that does sound pretty cool, wow!

Daaaang, I'm pretty oblivious so I didn't notice too much all the lack of development of the asgard c': very true though, weird that they still managed to make them so likeable and interesting XD
