I always found it a bit weird though that Heimdall was referred to as female while in Norse mythology Heimdall is definitely male. That's why he's male in Legacies too. I stuck to the mythology wherever it made sense.

ah well, a good explanation would have been that the humans just got it wrong and gender doesn't really matter too much to the asgard I think, especially since they just clone themselves c:

The Asgard naturally don't care that much about genders anymore, given that they're completely asexual now, having ruined their bodies by careless cloning experiments. They simply kept to the genders they once had when addressing each other. It's an interesting concept, all in all.

Yeah agreed! ^^ its so cool, the people that made stargate could have made the asgard typical lilgrey aliens but they made them completely uniqueand interesting c: (and very huggable)

Yes, they came up with such a great idea and then just... kinda got bored of them or something. They created such a great alien civilization with so much potential and then just did nothing with them. :/
