On today's covers we'll play with the swap of enemies between heroes, in the purest RETRO CLASSIC style!
Imagine Tony Stark - still at the stage when Iron Man was known as his bodyguard! - dealing with Femme Fatale Star Sapphire always seemed like an interesting idea! The flirtatious playboy and the 'emotional' warrior Zamaron!
Star Sapphire is one of those characters that have changed a lot in their representation in comics over the years! From 1959-when she debuted in-, she did n't really act in any way that could be considered truly malicious. And, in fact, she would more often help Hal than vex him.
It was from 1987 that Star Sapphire became villainous, having committed acts such as Slavery, mind control, torture, even murder. It is at this stage that her alter-ego Carol Ferris is portrayed as a separate persona, as a character with a completely split personality.
Since 2007, Star Sapphire has become more of a hero, when the Zamarons turn star sapphire crystals into rings and form the Star Sapphire Corps, in which Carol is a leader.
My only problem with the portrayal of this character was the constant 'sexualization' she suffered from artists over the years... but this is also a reflection of each age of comics!
