Today's second cover with villains versus heroes swapped! This time with the Mandarin seeking the power of the Green Lantern ring! And it's impossible not to put the eastern villain - owner of 10 rings of power - in search of one more for himself! Maybe in a near future we'll explore more of this Marvel villain's quest for DC's power rings! Cross your fingers! (bad pun intentional!)
Like Star Saphire, Mandarin is also a character that has changed over the years, always reflecting the time it was written! The cliché of the oriental villain has always accompanied the character! Even so, Mandarin managed to survive time! Seeing how these characters were written with today's eyes isn't quite fair! It is necessary to understand the social context and the role of comics at every moment!
We hope to be able to see the deeper interpretations of Star Saphire and Mandarin in the comics in the near future... without unnecessary female sexualization or prejudiced ethnic clichés!
