So,
...
In a "rational" state of conciousness, one makes conclusions based on observable or empirically verifiable phenomena. Therefore, it can be said that "rational" thinking belongs to the "macrocosm" or external universe. More simply put, addresses the tangible phenomena seen in the world outside of your mind.
In an "intuitive" state of conciousness, one makes conclusions based on sensation, impulse, and emotion. Therefore, it can be said that intuitive thinking belongs to the "microcosm" or internal universe. More simply put, it addresses the intangible phenomena seen/percieved only in your mind.
In a "satori" state of conciousness, the "serpents" of intuition and reason wind together and form True Understanding. The internal and external universes of pecreption merge, and one experiences life without seperation of the intuition and intellect. More simply put, you know it and you feel it.
This piece, if I am correct, documents the achievement of a satori state of conciousness.

Muhaha, the piece is back, and wreaking desirable havoc as usual.
Ah yes, it features the friendly magickal serpents. These guys, A.K.A. Mac and Mike, conveniently serve as symbols representing the interplay of opposing states of conciousness. One is analagous to an "orderly" state of mind, or rational thinking, the other analogous to a "chaotic" state of mind, or intuitive thinking. During a Satori experience, these two types of conciousness come together, and produce an alchemical reaction...inevitably resulting in Di-Vine Ecstasy. It's like mixing vinegar and baking soda, but umm, the baking soda's made of DMT and the vinegar is seratonin.
True Enlightenment cannot be obtained by simply following one's intuition, nor can it be obtained through textual knowledge alone. True understanding of any subject, let alone life itself, requires for both abstract and concrete cognition to occur. One must commit to understanding life in both an experiential and an intellectual mode if one is to get a more complete picture of whatever the heck is going on in this chaotic universe.
Love is the power to bridge gaps...it is the desire to become whole, to merge opposites into a unity that transcends the original duality. Love, ultimately, is what resolves the conflict between intuition and the intellect, and allows for a state of mind that goes beyond both.

the magnificence with which caduceus is shown here is appreciable and in those words you have aptly described this symbol of hope.

spiritual art is trancending the merely decorative. each image leaves its imprint on us, the magic of viewing symbols and forgetting them.

Thank you both very much! My technique is very intuitive with no reference pictures, and the symmetry is for the balance and sake of the symbolic fugue.
Clive Barker? Right on.
