Description A fanart picture of Meryl Silverburgh of Konami's popular computer game series Metal Gear, and the romantic interest of the games main character, Solid Snake. I might have made her a little more buff than some might prefer, but if she's going to be comfortable using large handguns, combined with her military training, i figure she wouldn't look particularly slender.

I pretty much lost interest in Metal Gear after the insanity of the second games plot, and Meryls absence and Otacons slightly tiresome presence was notable. Sadly none of what i've read, seen and been told about the following games and their plots has ever enthused me to come back. Still the original Metal Gear Solid ( or 'Metal Gear Solid - The Twin Snakes' as the Gamecube version was called ) is still one of my favourite games and i still hold it's story as the most coherent and complete, allowing it to stand alone of the rest of the series.

Metal Gear Solids Meryl was designed by Yoji Shinkawa, a superb character designer and artist.

Nice Job! Ya know what she said there makes me wonder how she was even allowed and able to handle a gun at THAT age?!

Metal Gear Solid 4 seemed to clean up most of Metal Gear Solid 2 mess, and while Meryl's absence did bother me Otacon presence didn't. He just has the worst luck with women is all, and we have enough of that issue with SOLID SNAKE! but on another note I love this drawing! Meryl always struck me as someone quite physically fit so the idea of her being built like a female bodybuilder doesn't offend me in the least! It makes me wish she was a playable character!

"Metal Gear Solid 4 seemed to clean up most of Metal Gear Solid 2 mess" That's debatable lol. I think there were some moments of real genius but a lot of the retcons kinda soured it for me.

And yeah Meryl's absence from MGS2 sucked the big one, game seemed to have been designed to fit both endings of MGS1 but then the extra "In The Darkness of Shadow Moses" document made it clear the Meryl lives ending was cannon anyway

It would have been interesting to see Meryl as a playable character.  I was a bit disappointed that she wasn't back in Metal Gear Solid 2.

I guess i should give the fourth game a try. I don't really mind Otacon, and he did seem to be rather unlucky with women, ( also unlucky for the women since they tended to get killed, it did seem a bit harsh ).

Thanks for the positive comment
