Hi there! This piece is really eye catching, and I felt motivated to share my opinion about it.
At first glance, the picture is really impulsive, shocking. I really like the lighting, the shadows on the ship, and the detailed hull. I was also pleased to see the balanced composition: the two main objects of interest occupy the two 1/3 of the picture on its two sides. A good placement!
On the other hand, I am puzzled about the scene. Why would as hip of this size engage in a firefight at such a close, almost direct range? Why is it circling about the enemy units? Such an approach would be expected by a bigger gunship with serious armor and firepower. I would find it more likely for this ship to do "hit-and-run" attacks, fly over them with great spead and drop a couple of bombs or guided missiles on the unexpecting targets, and then pull up and retreat before they strike back.
Furthermore, after a little more examination, I found the ground to be somewhat dull - to me it looks like the terrain of a video game from the 2000's, with repetative texture.
Well, these are my thoughts, hope it can be of some use to you! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

Hm, I have previously called the Saracen for a poor mans (a very well done though of course) Millennium falcon, but with drawings like this you certainly are giving it a personality of it own. Well done sir.

Oops, I was mixing it up with the Far Horizon. Sorry my bad, but yeah, my point still stand. You are makes making som obvious millennium Falcon clones to come to their own right.

lovely work. I am curious, though, where you got the idea a firestorm looks like that?

The engines, if that's to what you are referring, seem to be an adaptation of the modification on page 17 of the Haynes Millennium Falcon Owner's Workshop Manual.

No, the tank.
The firestorm tank was originally a side elevation only in one of the Star Wars: Adventure Journals (I don't recall which one).
IIRC it's an Allen Nunis piece.
The model used above is that side elevation extruded sideways, whereas most depictions I've seen of it are a lot more rounded.
The YT is derived from the Oo-ta Goo-ta originally shown in Galaxy Guide 6: Tramp Freighters, predating the Haynes by about twenty years.

Yes, yes, really my question would be 'why use those terrible, awful, interpretations from an artist with no concept of the third dimension rather than sticking with the original artist's version which shows a rounded, interesting shape that fits with the Imperial visual aesthetic.' GG6 pp77.

Oh the tank is an 1-M repulsortank which is from a Star Wars Adventure Journal. As for the ship, it was created based on sketches that the commissioner provided a long time ago. I think that someone else made the design and I carried it over to a drawing about two years ago and now into a 3D scene.

Really digging this piece! Β It reminds me of the scenes from the Star Wars games I used to play with my tabletop group.

Ok there were several stories that this could be from. We never had an artist in our group other than the GM, but he only drew when he chose to.
This is hopefully going to be accompanied by a piece from the ground looking up, with my character LT Baron Darklighter (check my gallery for more pics!) pinned down and looking more than a little nervous.
In the end, I would imagine this is from our adventure where we had to find a downed Rebel pilot, who was on the move as the Imps were after him too....
