Description I've always through the third Robin was cool, and I love Bart Allen to bits, but Superboy is more of an... acquired taste. I liked Superman enough as a kid, but never really got into the comics (that's changed, but even now I'm still a bit iffy around silver and bronze age comics). And then, when I first saw Kon in Young Justice he seemed so.... Ugh! He had bad hair, that jacket? Ew, and he seemed to damn arrogant. But that changed over time, and he's always been a bit of a smart-mouth, which I find a must have for any awesome comic character.

I stole bits of his uniform from all over the place. The pants, garter, and boots are from the origional, the gloves are from his second (I think), and his hair is from around that time also. And that shirt? He totally borrowed it off Bart, that's why it's so clingy. The pose can also be tracked to Young Justice: One Million.

This picture took forever. I sat down at two in the afternoon, and finished the main bulk of the colouring at quarter to midnight. Ugh. I then spent some time tweaking, and humming and harring over how much tweaking I should do. I drew the pic with the 0.75mm pacer, and inked it with artline felt tips (0.1mm and ).5mm). I then scanned the origional A3 picture and coloured it in Photoshop 7... -ish.

I thought I was being all clever, using seperate layers for each colour and opacities and such to get all the shading and skin tones looking swish. Then I realised I couldn't go over the outline without having to go back and insert yet another layer under each skin or shadow layer, this time of solid white and then... yeah, it gets a bit messy. And I figure it looks fine.

I actually spent a lot of time feeling joyful over this pic, because I'm coming to action-packed comics from an anime background. So drawing manly men isn't my strong point. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that drawing men that *don't* look like women is a major weakness in my capeabilities. Boy muscles confuse my brain. But Kon! I made Kon look manly! And aggressive! And possibly protective! Whee!

Wow, very cool.

He looks plenty manly to me. I also have hude trouble drawing guys and am working on it. I am in awe of your ability to digital colour, and also your photoshop 7. I am still trying to bend my head around the groovy free software that is gimp. Its so great you are into comics, very individual.
