Sort of. He has no sight like normal people, but he can "see" through the Force. It's kind of like a mystic Daredevil kind of thing, if you know that character at all.

Nice to see some other Miraluka chars out there! I play one on a SW RPG site, haha. I quite like how you color lightsabers!

Thanks! Yeah, the player specifically asked for a costume that was reminiscent of Anakin. It reflected some of his character development at the time.

Very nice.
I have a question? How do you choose a background? I always have issues with backgrounds.

AdamWithers In reply to Obi-quiet [2007-10-08 21:52:46 +0000 UTC]
Depends on the character and the scene and the mood I want to create. For this series of illustrations, I went simple. I figure it's Star Wars, they're hopping through space, so a simple starfield background fit nicely. Also, since it was all about the characters, the background is dull enough not to stand out or draw attention away from the figure.

I can never seem to match characters and background. *sigh* Really bugs me.

Give it time. I'm telling you, the two most important things when picking a background are Location and Contrast.
Location: Where's your character from, what do they do, and where do they do it? Find something that matches their style. You wouldn't put Superman in a back alley, and you wouldn't put Robin Hood on a skyscraper. Captain America doesn't need to be holding a flag on a WWII battlefield, but would fit in any well-lit, modernesque cityscape just as well.
Contrast: More important than location is that the foreground figure stands out from the background image. You can have a background that's just swirly lines and abstract shapes, and if the color and light/dark contrast pops then you'll be fine. Look at Vizhul - he's all in browns, blacks, and silver, but all his colors lean towards warm shades (that is, colors that are more red than blue). His background is then a cold cyan blue that stands in contrast with the colors of his clothes.
Contrast and location, baby. That's all it is.

Very nice detail. He looks extremely casual and serene.
I donβt think he is going to fall down he looks like he is moving (fluidly even)
Nothing wrong with the Baltar look, that is one rocking show!
And no offence after seeing another show whenever I see this picture I hear the line βRed October standing byβ. Donβt hurt me my brain works funny.
Neat substory about using the portal to the past to send a message to the other character.
I donβt normally like timetravel but that sounded like a fun rpg night.

Hmmm... major influences in the design: Gaius Baltar of Battlestar Galactica, prequel Obi-Wan, the big bad-guy from Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, and he's pretty much just wearing the same outfit as Anakin Skywalker in Ep. III.
The player said he was going to be dressing just like Anakin, now. As the group had discovered just who Anakin had become, naturally Master Tel was curious as to WHY he'd do that. He said it covered a few bases - it created a diversion (dressing in darkness to hide the light), it took the fear away from the image of Anakin Skywalker (dress like him to depower his image), and it redeemed the good of the man he WAS while also striking a moral victory over the man he's BECOME. I mean, if Vader sees Vizhul on the field, dressed just like he used to, it could easily give a slight (if brief) psychological advantage to Viz.

The player, Josh, just always seems to send Vizhul right into the middle of some serious crap. Of course, we've been playing the game for nearly three years, so that helps And I left out a LOT of the stuff, like how his deal with a Hutt crimelord led to the team being pursued by a team of bounty hunters for the first year of the campaign, or how he once pretended to surrender so he could see the Imperial Commander they were facing on the vid-screen only to suddenly and spontaneously use Force Grip to crush his trachea and (seemingly) kill him.
But the coolest so far was when the team was trapped on a ship that was half in Hyperspace and half out, and there were all kinds of bizarre time-warps happening from room to room, and he found a place where a datapad floated in the air. After investigating stuff, he found out that that space was a bridge between the 'resent' and the moment (7 years ago) when the captain read on his datapad the warning about the Hyperdrive malfunction that would later lead to the ship's current state.
So he realizes this wormhole to the past thingy, sits down so his head is right in that spot, and uses telepathy to call out to a character that had left the group over a year ago (in-game time). She had been a Jedi Padawan, but was so torn and terrified that she would fail that she left the team and the order never to be seen again. So Vizhul sends a message to her through the wormhole to the past (when she'd be, like 9-10 years old) and tells her where they are, and if she's still alive that she needs to come to these coordinates to save them.
So just when things are at their darkest, she shows up to save them all... but it's her from six years in our future! And Vizhul's message to the past was the very thing that placed the seeds of the self-doubt and certainty of failing the Jedi in her that led to her leaving the Jedi and eventually being where she needed to be to come back to those coordinates and save them all.
*whew* Now THAT was an awesome night, and the whole idea for contacting her was totally his. I played the rest of it off the cuff, but it was just too cool an idea not to use.

You're right, that's awesome! Sheer genius! And I'll say it again - if one man can be that much trouble I am almost close to exploding with curiosity to hear what the rest of your players have come up with. Sundays just don't come often enough for me, I've decided.
