Description Commission sketch from Grand Rapids Comic Con 2015; Copic marker, ink, white paint pen, charcoal pencil.

I've been watching a lot of Star Wars: Rebels and playing a lot of Metal Gear Solid 3 lately, and thought Snake's CQC fighting style would be a pretty badass fit for a guerrilla Jedi. Especially one who had little formal Jedi training and spent most of his time on the run in the underground.

Saw this pic on Google, and thought, "Hm, looks a lot like Snake."

Little did I know that you actually based this off Snake.

I absolutely love this, a true dark feel. Makes a Jedi badass, you can see the intent on his face.

He's a tough SOB. A real survivor in a dark time.

great concept! I agree it would be pretty bad ass!
Nice use of different mediums too, which bit did you use charcoal pencil for?

I use a white charcoal pencil for some of the highlights. Wherever you see what looks like white pencil strokes (on the pants, on the armor, etc.) that's the charcoal.

oh I see! Is a while charcoal pencil as effective as the white paint pen you mentioned

They work in different ways. The charcoal pencil isn't as strong as the acrylic pen, but you can get finer details and create more of a texture with it. I like using the charcoal for smooth gradients and for more rendered highlights, and the paint pen for big areas of white or really strong, super bright highlight spots.
