Description A fisherman, by his crab pot.
What a way to earn his living... I've been watching Deadliest Catch lately (on Discovery Channel), and found it interesting. I'm glad to see people actually wanting to do hard labor work nowadays. Being a farmer girl myself, I'd rather have a hammer in my hand, than a computer any day! It's more than a job, it's a way of living. They seem to genuinely love their job, even if it's tough and dangerous.
That inspired me to do this tribute.
to people out there, doing jobs I would never consider doing!

I've made a series of crabfishing drawings:
Don’t Let Go
Fisherman
Tanner Taxi

Pencils 2H to 4B, size A4, took me about five days. Finished 02. Oct -08. Reference photos from the net.

Thank you! It's quite some years old, but I still like it. Back when I had some creativity. Hehe!

MY pleasure. If a picture appeals to me I like to see what, if anything is said, the artist had in mind. In yours, I love both. And thank you for it.

Hehe! Great to meet another DC fan, especially someone so obsessed! Glad it's not just me

Have you seen the new season? I haven't (since it has to be translated before it's on TV here) but I heard it's interesting! Darn, now I want to see it! Maybe I'll have to watch it online...

I know, he's awesome! So darn attractive, and with a great personality. Too good to be true really
They have a good crew in general too, seems to be quite eager to work and loving what they do. Fun to watch anyway!

I'm so addicted now to Deadliest Catch. I always watch it whenever Discovery has an episode of it on even if I've seen the episode about 20 times. xD

lol, me too!
They have just started sending the new season here in Norway, because of translations and stuff, so I'm hanging onto every word!
The more you watch it, the more people you notice and remember it seems.
It's strange how a show about crabfishing can be at all interesting, but it's not about the fishing, it's about the people, drama, action and the dangers. Lol, that sounded like a commercial

I love watching episodes in different languages. xD It's so funny.

It's really true. I think after the first season people just stopped watching it for the fishing and watched it more the crews.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

adavesseth In reply to phantom-roxs [2009-08-08 22:03:56 +0000 UTC]

You can actually watch them with different languages? I've only ever heard Mike Rowe, that horrible british guy with the strange accent and the norwegian version, which is not half-bad. I guess it's a way to learn languages, though

Yeah, fishing is boring! And I swear, even my mom payed attention when she saw the episode where Phil had his "accident" and had to go to the hospital. It's a real life realityshow!

phantom-roxs In reply to adavesseth [2009-08-12 00:53:22 +0000 UTC]

Well, I found a few online and found them very entertaining. xD

It truly is. So, are you still watching Season 5 or no? 'Cause I don't want to ruin anything for you.

adavesseth In reply to phantom-roxs [2009-08-15 17:51:55 +0000 UTC]

Watching things in different languages can be very amusing, I agree.

Yeah, think it's the third episode I missed this tuesday, have to watch the rerun tomorrow. We're horribly late here.

Awww, is that Edgar? Your drawing captures his quirky personality perfectly!

The entire drawing is really well done. Your shading in particular is superior! I suck so bad at it, I'm jealous! Good job!

New Deadliest Catch episodes in April! Can't wait!

Unfortunately, I have to wait even longer for the new episodes, since I live in Norway. ): Think it's in july/august they're released here. But oh well, it's worth the wait! It's strangely addictive, crab fishing

People throw around words like "amazing" all over the place.. I don't think they're a good way to summarize someone's art. This is really interesting, it really captures the moment and feeling of the picture. It's definitely great work; a small asset in your spectacular gallery.

And I agree wholeheartedly, even if I'm guilty of using words like "amazing" and "fantastic" myself. I guess I have a small vocabulary...
I'm glad you could find meaning in my drawings. That's what I tried to achieve.
