I felt a sudden surge throughout the air. It was subtle yet sharp, like a scalpel through my spirit moving through like it were nothing. It was as if a feeling that something has opened up around me and finally awakened to the world once again. A feeling of caution slowly rises around me as I began to trek across this fertile land with silent, observant steps. A vast canopy of tall trees grew about me, each one's crown glowing warmly with the bright sun above; its lights arching down through the openings above like pillars of energy feeding the earth below. The green plants around me flourished about this landscape, with each one vibrantly coloring the areas around you as if they all stood forth to welcome this strange traveler into their land and presenting me with a warm and inviting display of their vibrant natural colors. The air was flared with the sounds of animals moving through this leafy landscape. The sounds of caws, screechers, squeakers and scuttlers...all sending their wild sounds into the air, blanketing the forest with its own personal soundtrack. The trek began to take longer than I thought, as I felt that night was coming quicker and quicker. As I moved on the sun bid its goodbye and disappeared from the horizon as nightfall began to blanket the wood. As I prepared to settle in for the night, I saw something that made me stop in stare at all that was around me.
"Itβs...beautiful," I thought to myself.
The plants and flowers began to glow, as if the sunlight before was stored inside of them from the day. The light showered the trees and leaves like I was under some wondrous sea of energy. But it wasn't just the light that made me stop and stare. Moving slowly in the distance was a strange figure like none I had ever seen. A feminine figure moved through the leafy terrain under the same warm glow as this world. Her gorgeously curved form was textured like smooth varnished wood adorned with various markings of clouds and the skies above. A flowing curtain of silk covered her body and hugged it gently under its smooth embrace; colored crimson like the passion and life of her realm. Her silken hair flowed like the many vines from the trees around her and was decorated with a crown of vibrantly colored flowers and plants. As she got closer to me, she presented me with a warm and welcoming smile as well as look of calm and gentle wisdom. At last I realized, this was her kingdom, she was there queen and I was grateful to be in her presence. Forest Guardian, created by *aditya777, presents us with a very lush and colorful view of the forest kingdom and its beautiful guardian, with all the wonderment that comes with it.
Starting off, there's quite a lot to be said about the detailing of the subject's form. Each curve, shape and line is very well articulated in her conceptual construction and gives off a feeling of life that she herself represents in the composition. One can almost imagine her swaying her arms in the cooling breeze of the forest as the warm and gentle glow of the sun anoints her body and throne. There's a lush and eye-catching use of greens and subtle hints of yellows, blues, reds and oranges here that give the piece that much more visual variety and keeps your eyes darting about the piece for more to take in and absorb. The foreground and background present a very nice encompass of the forest's embrace about the landscape and the subject, further adding to that feeling of immersion that help this piece along quite a bit.
While thereβs a lot that works in the favor of this piece, there are still a few things here that could be done to improve upon the groundwork. Starting off, some of the features of the subject could be further detailed upon like her arm in silhouette. More of those details should be tightened up a bit and allowed for a little more creative structure. Some of the elements in the background and foreground that make up the scene could use some of the same treatment mentioned above. Most of these elements carry a bit of a sketched and rough appearance to them that give the piece a bit of an unfinished look to it. Try and build on more of the detail and structure of the primary elements as a whole and don't be afraid to add or subtract as you go along. One more suggestion would be to see if you could even expand on the main piece and add more to the overall landscape with the female figure sitting and looking out toward the further expanse of her domain, presenting a higher sense of scale and immersion to the piece for the viewer. Keep experimenting more and more with this piece and you'll never know where it'll take you.
As far as pieces like this go, Forest Guardian is indeed a tight composition with a solid concept about it. The primary subject detail still shines through very well and the lush color usage does a great deal of justice to the whole piece. While there are some parts of the composition that could do with a bit of revisiting and touching up, there's still enough here to for the eyes to take in and absorb.
