I don’t know if it’s just the effect of the scanner or if the painting is actually like that, but it seems as tho the color brightens on the left side of the image... Then there’s a horizontal shading almost duplicating that of the vertical shape (with the exception for the orange tip).
Nice choice of warm colors makes it feel rather “encouraging” in a way. The texture may add a sort of “obstacle” to the pattern.
It’s like trying to accomplish something, there will always be “obstacles” preventing you from reaching your goal. The red and orange colors are the “encouragement” to accomplish what was intended.
Am I making sense?

Anyway…I like this piece.

yes, you are making sense! thanks for the nice, analytical comment. it's always interesting to hear what others see in those paintings. i'm glad you shared it with me
you're right about the brighter left side. i took several pics with my digi cam, but the effect remained. the light came from the left and i wasn't able to achive smooth lighting

thanks Laura!

Well, that’s a relief to know. As for the lighting...I think it add a nice effect to the painting, so I wouldn’t worry much about it.
Do you have any of your work displayed anywhere?

displayed... you mean elsewhere on the web or in "real"? i have a website but i want to rebuild it - don't like the look anymore...
i never had an exhibition in real life. though it would be quite interesting...

Displayed in a museum or something of the sort, is what I meant. Sorry. ^^
But that’s great you have a web page...and would like to see it some time.

I love the texture! What did you use, a pallet knife? Also the simplicity gives it a sort of grace and elegance. Nicely done.

thanks Amanda! yeah i used a pallet knife. i hardly use brushes - well sometimes. though most of the old paintings were created using brushes only. but then i discovered the pallet knife and structures done using the knife are much better.

Yeah I thought so, I could tell by the texture in the piece. You're right they are much better with a pallet knife.

really?! yes! not trapped, isolated? you're not just pretending, are you?! you can have a 29cm x 29cm print... (that's the max. size our printer can do....)
strange, the others had a completely different impact...
