Roman easily scaled the buildings of Glyphith with the new set of bat's wings he'd recently grown. Once small and insignificant, they'd grown into something large and powerful that cut through the air with ease like the blade of a knife. They came in handy too, especially for something like this.
He landed gingerly on the slippery tin of someone's roof, reaching for a nearby post to steady himself. Then he cupped his other hand over his eyes and scanned the town below, looking diligently--if not a little lazily--through the many alleyways and turns that made Glyphith like a little labyrinth.
Supposedly, from what Roman had managed to overhear, there was a monster running amok through town. He rarely believed the foolish things townsfolk talked about, but what had caught his interest was the mention of compensation. The town needed able-bodied adults to chip in and help look for this monster before it grew too large and caused trouble, and they'd be paid for their help, too. He may not have believed there was really a monster, but jade coins were a currency that didn't lie, and he needed them more and more these days. Pickpocketing and petty thievery only got him so far, especially with his lack of experience in both, and well, the town was practically giving out money for a mission like this.
So Roman would do his best to look out for a "monster..." What a bunch of hogwash, he thought to himself, smirking and chuckling quietly aloud. The thought of this monster being real had crossed his mind a couple times too, though, and the fleeting idea of the danger he was putting himself in flickered back into his priorities.
  Eh, what's the bother anyway... He brushed his concerns aside, again. If he met some horrible end at the hands of a monster in town, it felt far more amazing than any other worthless end he'd pictured for himself. Dying alone in some alley somewhere, or worse, rotting away in a jail cell... He'd take an epic demise with a monster any day!
As far as he was concerned, this mission gave him nothing but plusses.

There is a mini-event going on in Kwillians right now that is only for adult kwillian, and I literally almost forgot I'd grown up one of my characters.  I understand why there is a limit for who can participate in this event, but I do think it's a bit of a shame since it's running at the same time as the Anniversary, when a bunch of new members with baby kwillings could be joining the group... :0
BUT, much like my guy Roman, I'm motivated primarily by jade coins to participate in this event, ha ha! I dunno, there's a lot of other fun things that could happen too, but I have a tendancy to feel bad if I get fun things and my brother (who has no adult kwillian right now) can't get them, too. BUUUT, it's purely a me-issue, and HannBo.'s fine with me participating (like usual <3) so I'm gonna try to!
I attempted to do more atmospheric perspective in this picture, and while I don't think I was super successful, it's also sorta successful? I dunno... Brain a little fried and words no come easy right now, ammaright? Also, welcome to part 500 of drawing a picture of Roman Nevermore and forgetting to add in his halo until after I've finished everything! <3 I always tell myself I'll remember it, and then I aaalways forget~~
