Very quickly Angie realized there was a lot more that he didn't know other than monolith symbols and strange rock types. "Purifying magic?" He echoed what he'd just heard, approaching an amourim who had just finished giving a demonstration to another group. He'd been on-site for a while now and the sun was just beginning to nestle into the horizon.
"Yes!" Smiled the amourim, sporting various hues of green and comfy clothing. "The name's Kaleida! You here to help out?" She stood on two legs and appeared to be reptilian, like Blayd.
Wait, where was Blayd? He and Angie had been exploring the monoliths together; there weren't that many places to go, I mean, they were in the desert so--
"Hellooo?" Chirped Kaleida, placing her knuckles on her hips and giving him a strange smile.
"Oh, yes!" Angie rushed to answer her, putting Blayd out of mind for a moment. "Yes, I'm here to help... Um... Help with what exactly?"
Kaleida gave him another strange look then motioned to the large, purple veins that ran like streams of water through the Oasis. "This stuff, Murk! We're gonna distill it with purifying magic!" She smiled again.
"Oooooh, right right right..." Angie pretended he hadn't just noticed the Murk all over the place and followed Kaleida to a spot beside the water of one of the Oasis' many springs. He'd never heard of purifying magic either... Maybe he wasn't really cut out for everything amourim were expected to do out here. He'd just been following Blayd, after all; they hung out in the desert together all the time. Blayd probably knew about purifying magic... And Murk... It was all desert stuff and he was an expert on that, so if Angie could just find him--
"Hey!" Kaleida waved her hand at Angie to get his attention. She'd sat down beside him in the sand and had her palms poised up and ready to cast something. "You alright? You seem distracted?" Her smile was a little strained now.
"I've never heard of purifying magic..." Angie admitted, mimicking her gesture with a shy look.
"That's 'cause I've been developing it, myself!" Kaleida beamed. Oh... So maybe Blayd didn't know about it... "It's pretty easy to learn if you focus, so look here!" Patiently, Kaleida explained how to cast this new form of magic, and soon enough she and Angie were blooming rays of light from their palms like it was nothing.
"Wow!" Angie exclaimed, his eyes glued on the magical display before him. This wasn't so hard after all! It was a lot like his elemental magic in ways, and Angie had been using that since he was born!
"There you go, you got it!" Cheered Kaleida as she stood up with Angie. "Now get out there and clear out that Murk!"
Angie looked ahead at an ominous vein of the purple substance they were supposed to be getting rid of. "How'd it all get here..." he asked, talking in part to himself.
"You don't know?" Kaleida was still within earshot and she circled back to answer him. "Shados has been spreading across Altrun... This was just another attack by the cultists on the desert, now..." Her expression became more grave, but as she saw the look on Angie's face, her tone shifted again. "You really haven't heard about this either?"
Angie's cheeks burned a little. "No..." he grumbled, looking the other way. Kaleida laughed and flashed him another grin when he caught her eye.
"Well, now you have! Now go help clean up!"
As Kaleida headed towards more amourim, ready to teach them magic too, Angie decided he liked her. She wasn't afraid to be herself around him, even if it meant pointing out how hopelessly ignorant he was. Maybe he should read a couple more books, or pay attention to the news around town...
"Oh, I'm Angie by the way! Nice to meet you!" He waved, calling over his shoulder before heading out towards a pile of Murk that was unattended in the sand dunes.

I have finished... Yet another prompt! UwU  AND, this time, I've read up on event lore so I included some of it in my story! It was a little painful to get through as far as writing is concerned, but I'm trying to get Angie up to speed so that's how it's gonna be.  I don't know Kaleida's personality so I might have written it horribly wrong, but I figured she'd at least try to be friendly since she's gotta teach so many people magic! I could be wrong though...
I ALSO could be wrong about how purifying magic should be drawn. As far as I can tell, there's not a bunch of guides for drawing magic stuffs so I just assumed it was kind of free rein buuuuut it's gonna suck if I've got it totally wrong. It was fun to draw though, if we're looking on the bright side! <:]  And I couldn't find a way to cram Blayd into the picture without it feeling like I was cramming him into the picture so he's not heeeere... AT LEAST the colors for this picture make me really happy! That's something! This is for 'Prompt #2, Healing the Murk: Part A!'
    Enjoy!

Angie belongs to me!
Kaleida (NPC) belongs to Amourim!
