Hi! This little guy took about three hours to make.
If you're looking to make something flat, I'd say the easiest way is to draw out a template on paper first, then use clay to "fill it in". For making birds specifically, I usually start with the longest feathers on the wings and tail, then add lumps of clay to bulk out the wings and body. The rest of the feathers are just added in layers on top.
