Description After I posted Mystify, a lot of people commented on it looking like a butterfly. I promised I'd take another look at the file and see if I could enhance the colors. I did that, and even tried to improve the shape, but it only worked in this shape, so here it is with new colors and a better name.

Thanks. Funny you should mention that because the original was more close to that theme. [link]

Thanks. This was a spin off of Mystify. I promised some of my friends I'd do more color with it.

Thanks, Jim. Probably a lot of stubborn luck. I refuse to let a program get the better of me.

Thanks. After this project, I think I'm convinced on shifting into new colors on my flame fractals.

Thanks. Out of the six trial renders, I chose this one just because of the yellow flower in it.

this one looks more like a dragon fly with it's beady eyes and such. i love the shape and the way you colored it with your gradient.

Beady eyes. Love how people see so much in this one, but that comment made me laugh the hardest.

Aeires In reply to littledeviltoo [2004-10-28 22:36:22 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Lenora. I think I need to go through my gradients and start weeding them out. I usually avoid them because I have so many, but if I had less to overwhelm me I might make more contrasting images than what I have been.

Aeires In reply to Thelma1 [2004-10-28 22:37:49 +0000 UTC]

Coming from you, that's a great compliment. You always do so much more with color than I'm able to. My skills are more in getting the image than in the colors. Maybe we should colab some day.

Thelma1 In reply to Aeires [2004-10-29 20:46:09 +0000 UTC]

I have to admit I'm just a little bit of a colour freak ha ha, and I do spend absolutely hours playing with colours. I just discovered that Apo map thingy the other day, didn't know it existed before, so you can imagine the fun I've been having with that Have you tried it ? I've only ever done one colab before, when I visited Karren (Darkangel764) and we were sitting together in front of her computer.
Your work is wonderful by the way, and also inspirational Thelma.

Aeires In reply to Thelma1 [2004-10-29 21:10:14 +0000 UTC]

Not sure what you mean by the mapping. Is that something new to the more recent apo versions? I've been using Apo 200 for a few months now and love it because it never expires, but if there is something worthwhile to have, I may download the newest version.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thelma1 In reply to Aeires [2004-10-29 21:32:21 +0000 UTC]

No, it's actually on the Apophysis site for download. (it's a seperate thingy) I had never even noticed it there before, I happened to see it mentioned in someones comments, then went to the Apo site out of curiosity to see what it was. I've had fabulous fun with it.

Aeires In reply to Thelma1 [2004-10-29 21:42:08 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I'll have to look into that. Does it have a tutorial or is it one of those things that is easy to figure out?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thelma1 In reply to Aeires [2004-10-29 21:49:02 +0000 UTC]

Well, I didn't see a tut', in fact I don't even know if I'm using it right, but I've made some gorgeous colours with it just by messing around. I can't remember if you've viewed my 'Strange Egg' flame, but if you check out my new journal entry, you'll see it's being published !!!!! After that shameless bit of plugging, what I meant to say was that the colours I used for 'Egg' were ones I made in the map thingy..phew.

Thank you, that means a lot. I spent more time on this than Mystify, probably because I specificly promised people I'd do it, so I had an agenda to follow with this.

Awesome title! It really does fit well with the image.

I find my best flames always come about when I'm least expecting - if I try to make something I want it never seems to turn out the same.

Thanks. Yeah, me too. Usually I just set the parameters and see what I can make. I give full credit to the people that can target an idea, regardless of the program.

Dusky-Hawk [2004-10-28 08:52:03 +0000 UTC]

This is indeed a very nice fractal, although I never saw a butterfly in it. It seems to be a 4-winged bird or flying creature and I must say I really like the color additions you have made. Certainly a beautiful fractal. In some ways it also looks like a shockwave slamming into a hard surface.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeires In reply to Dusky-Hawk [2004-10-28 22:45:03 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'm sticking to the queen alien from the alien series, although the color in this one is harder to see that now. Shock waves....slamming....you sure you're not thinking of Shattered Reality.

damn man this one has way better coloring than the other one. It has more of a smoke feel to it, more 3d in a sense. Great job!
