the US Navy used to do the false canopy as well before changing over to the super hornets they don't paint it on them. not sure why though.

I think its a good technique to throw off the enemy. I was watching a Hornet display last week and when it rolled inverted it was really hard to tell if it was upside down or not. The only thing that really indicated that it was inverted was the vertical stabilizers. Us Canadians still use the F-18A, but man the maneuvers it was doing... Square loop, flat spin, rolling around the nose. Still a very good aircraft for being 30+ years old, the only thing that's wrong with them is the time on the air frames.
I can understand why the USN would not paint the false canopy, with the way modern warfare is the chances of close combat such as a dogfight isn't as common. So it's really not needed.

Hopefully you will be able to add a Eurofighter Typhoon to that collection instead of those stupid F-35s, haha.

That would be pretty cool, at this point I'm unsure what Canada will replace the F-18 with.

I love the way that you guys paint a false cockpit on the underside of the CF-18 to disorientate enemy pilots if it came to a close-in dogfight...any advantage is a good advantage.

Yeah it's kind of a cool idea. [link] You can sort of see it on that picture I took of a real CF-18. and Thanks.
