There is something kind of sensual about a huge long beautiful dress dragging through the dirt ?!

Sure....(sorry it took so long to reply)
1. For the upper body and sleves of the dress I used Simplicity pattern 8725(which has unfortuneately been discontinued)as a base to start from. I changed the neckline though to make it a little less wide and give more of a shoulder strap as it were.
2. I cut the sleves suuuuuper long so that they'd scrunch up, and instead of doing the little flair at the bottom as in the pattern, it cut it in the straight tapered shape and made it come to a point on the top of my hand.
3. For the skirt I just did my basic protractor thing as demonstrated in this sketch: [link]
4. I slit the skirt and inserted gores - 2 in front and 2 in back.
That's the basics of how I made it.
With that pattern I mentioned, I've noticed that it works a lot better with stretchy fabric than regular stiffer fabrics as it doesn't have the princess line seams to give it shape. The skirt on that pattern is also very wierd. Not only is it extra-specially long creating pools of fabric on the floor around you (at least if you're of an average height) but it also has seams in odd places due to the extreem unliklihood that anyone would be able to get their hands on fabric wide enough to accomodate it, and it distrubutes the bulk of the fabric in the skirt rather awkwardly. On the pattern there are extra pieces that are sewn onto the sides which makes the two sides a lot more full than the front and back - which is why I didn't use the pattern for the skirt.
if you have any further questions feel free to ask, and hopefully I'll be quicker at getting back to you.

Hello! I would like to ask about how many yards would you say you used on this dress? I'm horrible at guessing amounts >..<

well I'm not very good at guessing anything with numbers either, but I'd say you'd probably be safe with 7 yards, maybe 8. Β I usually use 5 yards for my full circle skirts, for full dresses, especially if you want large drapey sleeves as well as a full length skirt, I wouldn't go with anything less than 6. Β Also it depends on the kind of fabric you are using. Β With velvet like this you need extra because you'll have to lay out all the pieces going the same direction on the fabric so you don't end up with some pieces looking darker than others due to the way the fuzziness lays. Β It ends up with more scrap fabric, but it can't be helped.Β
