Gorgeous work! The scales shimmer like metal, and the veining in the wing fins is that perfect realistic touch that you rarely ever see.

The detail and texturing are really nice. The only problem I can see is that there's a lack of expression... it's hard to see the dragon as a living being and not a statue. I know that making a dragon, especially one with no lips, emote properly is really difficult... Maybe some shading on the eyeball itself, or the addition of a pupil, would help.

I know what you mean - this is a bit harder though since it's also just the head. Dragons with pupils (as odd as this sounds) tend to seem weird to me too (it's hard to get them just right - although eyes are tricky in general anyway). Plenty of chances to practice on the dragons though

Excellent dragon; I dig the detail in the scales and the transparency of the... ear thingies (heh, despite having drawn those on oodles of dragons myself, I still don't know what to call them 
Man, those are some wicked spinal ridges... nobody's going to be riding this dragon, that's for sure!!

I can't believe how even you got those scales, he looks very brassy perhaps even mechanical, I could easily imagine him being a metalic silver with glowing blue or amber eyes!

I adore your pencil work on this. The scales look good- you managed to get them all uniform and actually have them follow the curve of the body- something I have a bit of trouble with, myself. I really like your design, and the jaggedness of the armor on the head and face. Nice job.

Scales aren't that hard once you draw them a while - usually I just do a very light simple crosshatch-like pattern first and then worry about detail later. Thanks for commenting
