The whole background and Loki's facial expression is great and all.
His facial expression and posture are excellent like he's planning something.
This is also original! I'll give it a five star for that.
but...
There are some things that needed improvement like his arm.
I really don't understand. One is bigger than the other one.
Another one is well, The background and Loki is a bit dark. Make him a little brighter. Just a little. Same with the background.
His helmet is kinda dull. I know that his helmet is usually shiny and glowy.
That's all I can say.
Overall, this is good.

I'm not familiar with Marvel's Loki - only with the mythological one - but I just love the colour scheme you chose for this drawng. The dark grey tones, the turquoise and the gold work really well together and the gold edge of Loki's coat adds just the right amount of detail and focus to his front, as well as a subtle balance to the dominant gold helmet (impressive horns, dude! ).
It's also great how the background appears so active and troubled - sort of like a turquoise fire is ablaze behind/around him - while his facial expression is so intense and focused. I love contrasts like that, it makes me wonder what he's looking at, what he is thinking, planning, plotting.... lol. He is Loki, after all.
I am wondering if the helmet could do with even more of a highlight where the light reflects off of it, to make it look even more like it's made of metal - but like I said, I'm not familiar with Marvel's Loki or his helmet, so I don't know if it's made of metal where light would cause a bright highlight?
The only thing I'm in two hearts about with this image is the "big-pixels" background effect, for lack of a better word. While I think it works great and looks organic behind and around Loki, the pixely effect around the light turquoise lines on the top half edges of the image have a more digital than organic appearance. I don't know if that makes sense? They look as though they are digital pixels, making me think of modern technology instead of old Gods. Maybe that goes with Marvel's Loki, I can't say, so maybe it's an intentional contrast you chose?
Anyway, all things considered, really cool!

yEP the helmet is totally supposed to be metal which i don't have a lot of experience painting, i should work on that! i think i got a little frustrated with this and didn't render quite as much as i should have, that happens to me a lot with large illustrations haha. Something I need to work on, for sure. As for the pixels... i was having trouble getting the background to not look so uneven, i think? and added the pixels to try and bring some straight lines into it so it didn't just look like a jumbled mess behind him. a way to shift it from nonsense into a more organized chaos, i think, if that makes sense. marvel's Asgard has advanced technology that's centuries ahead of Earth, so i suppose I could make that excuse? but it was honestly an aesthetic choice more than a logical one, and i would probably do it differently if I redrew it now, ahah. maybe more hard-edged paint strokes in horizontal and veritcal lines to try to balance it without adding in that digital, synthetic note, keeping it more organic-looking... Either way, thanks so much for the lovely comment and insightful crit!! I really appreciate it, especially for someone not familiar with marvel's Loki!

You're most welcome!
And yes, metal is a bit tricky to paint, isn't it? I'm drawing more than I'm painting, but I find really bright reflections usually do the trick, creating the impression of a smooth metal surface that reflects the light brightly. Even a small glare can go a long way with metal. With my drawings being b&w, white usually helps me, but I don't know if it would be too stark a contrast in a colour picture. Maybe experiment a bit with white or almost white highlights if you paint metal again and see if you like it.
And I see what you mean about the background, your explanation makes perfect sense. It worked, too, because your background looks lively, but definitely in an organized chaos way, not like a mess. I think especially the hard edged paint strokes around Loki work perfectly, I find them visually pleasing and a good balance. And if a digital, synthetic note works with the Marvel universe, all the better - that makes the pixely effect along the top outside edges a feature that matches the narrative!

He seriously looks vexed, as if whoever he's addressing is too thick to comprehend his plan.
