What a historic night for boxing!Amanda Serrano vs. Danila Ramos.
The first women's unified championship fight was fought over 12 three-minute rounds. The fight went the distance with Serrano getting the unanimous decision after 36 minutes of boxing. I caught the last round of the fight last night, I'll definitely have watch it on Dazn right after this. Ramos was pretty beat up by the twelfth round, one her eyes was almost swollen shut.
These women are warriors and should be honored as such, I'm hoping they'll inspire other fighters to go to three-minute rounds because it's not really a big deal, women can recover better than men, something about the regenerative properties of estrogen. I've trained with my wife for years now and even though I'm almost twice as strong in every weighted exercise we do I need a two to three minutes in between sets to do repeat my working weight, but she's ready to go after a minute to her working weight. I was unaware that this reoccurring phenomenon is actually backed by science, my favorite PHD in exercise science did a whole video talking about it on YouTube.
