Wrong In All The Right Ways:V-Day
Ahh, many know the image well. It was in Time Magazine to celebrate V-Day. An image of a sailor passionately kissing a woman in the middle of Times Square. Wait, whoa wait a minute! That isn't a girl! (No joke Sherlock.) Bash patrol, bash patrol! Men in the military can't kiss!!! (Hrm.... F*** you haters)
Now, here is something, that sad to say, is still a heated issue. Gays in the military. (Haven't the politicians heard about Alexander the Great? Geez! Get with it people!) Oh dear me, a guy likes a guy! A girl likes a girl! Well, hell they can't defend our nation! Because of their sexual preference they are less able to do the jobs the heterosexuals can. Yeah, uhuh..... You know what? Bite my Bi-Ass!
That's right, you heard me. This married mother of 3 in what is a so called traditional marriage is BI. No biggie and you know what else? Men in uniform loving each other ain't no biggie either! Love is love, pure and simple. Military is military. Pure and simple. They CAN be merged and you know what? I don't care which way a person swings in the middle of a gun fight as long as they are doing their job. And they do. Every day.
There are thousands of bi-sexual and homosexual people in the military that do their job everyday, defending their country and they are damn good at it. What happens when they get done and go home is no more our business than it is theirs and what goes on in our home.
And don't start in on me that I don't know crap about crap and the military. You are talking to a woman that has a family chalked full of military. Heck I still have photocopies of my ancestors discharge papers from the Union Army. I am raising my children to join the military! Not to mention on my husbands side of the family there is nothing but military heroes. And guess who gave me the idea for this image? Uh-huh, so get over yourself.
So, I raise this glass to you! To all the Gay, Bi and Straights in the military. You're all Heroes. No matter what.

I am a bisexual in the military, I was in for four years before DADT was taken away. The acceptance struggle still remains and isn't going away any time soon. But now that the policy is gone it's nice to know I won't loose my career even If I have to withstand hate. Thank's for posting this picture- I love the mimic image!

Hear Hear. When I joined the military as a Aviation Structural Mechanic, there was a certain faction who refused to acknowledge that I could do such a "man's job" as woman - for years it took me three times as much effort to get the same recognition as a guy in my field.
Sexual orientation has nothing to do with ability, no more than being a woman does. I knew just as many men not cut out for my work as women. I've had friends who were gay or lesbian while in the military and they were just as apt at their jobs as hetero people.
Despite what the phobes say, they're not going to accost you in the shower or the berthing or whatever. They don't work that way. The drama that comes from their inclusion in the greatest military in the world comes from the straights...
I'm with you, they need to get over themselves!

Nice spin on a well-known pic, and nice read too. I come from a long line of soldiers also, and I served in a combat unit for 4 years. You are right - there are plenty of gays and lesbians in the armed forces and always have been and they do the job the same as anyone else. When you're a soldier, nobody is thought of as gay or straight, black or white - we're all just army green, brothers in arms depending on each other to stay alive. It seems that the majority of people who are against gays in the military have no idea what it's like to be in the military. Thanks for posting this. I didn't know you were bi-sexual, lol.

hehe thankies. ^^ (And yeah, not something I talk about much. Nothing I am ashamed but but I am one of the Bi's that am only in a relationship with 1 person at a time, no matter the gender. So with me being married to my hubby, doesn't get brought up very often.)
