It looks the creature turned around quickly from the way the tail is angled.

I was thinking the character was swooshing her tail but turning quickly around would work as well to get into that kind of position.

This whole picture is magical! I love all the purple. I particularly love how you did this Quirlicorn's horn - it just looks so perfect! And of course, I would be remiss if I didn't say something about the mane and tail and furry feet! They look gorgeous as always!

I don't even know where you begin to find the time to do something as beautiful as this. From the beautifully textured backdrop (love the white splatter - it just adds the perfect touch) to the stunning Quirlicorn... I think you may have outdone yourself on this one. Your anatomy and shading is perfect (as always), and the way that you incorporate the purple and blue hues into your shadows just makes the uni come to life. And that horn... seriously might be one of my fav things about this. The spiral looks amazing. And let's not get me started on what a huge fan I am of your manes/tails (and all hair in general) - seriously, I don't know how you do it, but I absolutely love that purple flowing hair (especially where it comes off the start of the tail (attached to the uni's rump).

The horn's style is referenced from this particular Quirlicorn's ref sheet; I absolutely love how Lyricanny drew it! What I love about Quirlicorns is that even tho their quirly horn is their strongest characteristic, there are so many ways to draw them - all the way from soft curves to heavier and more angular ones. 
I am happy to hear that you like shading here: I tried a bit more softer approach with light colors and pastels to create snowy look. I also left my typical black outlines out and used grey instead. Oh and manes and tails are love! If someone invented a horse breed with long, flowy fur - I would want ten imports right away!
